Yeah, but girls wouldn't like him.
They definitely don't like all guys and all tattoos.

Who should be paying for the meal on the first date in the day and age?
My best guess is it has to do with the stigma that guys who get tattoos are 'bad boys' or alpha males, so to speak.

Yeah, I've never understood what some chicks see in alpha males.
Not saying all are like this, but what's so good about guys who are brash, loudmouthed, and incapable of controlling what they do/say? Is it the whole stigma of them being "blokish" or is there something I've missed?
Chicks?
I think there is a difference between being an alpha male and just being brash. This is without delving into Pick Up Artist type principles. Guys who are loud mouthed and incapable of controlling what they do/say are usually just dicks, and not necessarily an 'alpha male'. Alpha male is a rotten term, in my opinion anyway. It suggests a guy who just doesn't give a shit about anything and is a dick, where as I see it more than that.
I see alpha males as people who show confidence in what they do, and when you see them out with people they aren't dicks or leaders as such, but they seem to be the centre of attention from their mates and friends. So, they are leaders in some sort of sense.
As I said, alpha male is a term that I think has grown to mean guys who are just plain dicks, which I don't see as the case at all. But, this is all pick up artist type junk.
I know there's a difference, was just referencing the alpha male stereotype.
But why do so many chicks prefer very outspoken guys who are sometimes susceptible to being brash, and loudmouthed? I've never particularly liked those qualities in chicks, particularly compared to those who are more reserved and introspective.
Is there something chicks see in louder, more confident (sometimes to the point of being cocky) guys that I don't?
Sounds like sour grapes.

I don't like alpha males. They are so annoying, they talk over the top of you, they dominate the conversation and think they're more important to an interaction than they actually are. I'm not saying they're all bad but as a general rule i don't enjoy their company.
I have to chair a board meeting and half the attendees are alpha males. I'm thinking about bringing a whistle - they're really hard to control. They're loud, talk over the top of each other and don't give the quieter/shyer people are chance to say anything. Energy sapping sillys.

Confidence, assertiveness and a positive sense of self-worth are very attractive qualities in a man. Those things come naturally to stereotypical alpha males. How? I've just never understood it.
Mind you there are bad qualities in introverted people, but what's so good about guys who are always the life of the party? Can't quite wrap my head around it.
On the surface, alpha males are much better when it comes to picking up chicks than others. Generally though, they're not always quite as good in terms of providing a loving, stable relationship.
One thread for the anti-feminist stuff is probably enough, eh?

The fact that they may have other qualities that might be deemed unattractive (loudness, lack of consideration, self-centredness, whatever) is somewhat secondary - at least initially, when you haven't got to know somebody yet.
On the whole I'd dispute that introverted people are better in relationships than extroverted people. I don't really think it matters one way or another, it is more about personal compatibility.

Is there something chicks see in louder, more confident (sometimes to the point of being cocky) guys that I don't? I get the confidence and charisma thing, but for some reason cannot put my finger on why that is more attractive to chicks than, say, reserved and more level-headed guys.
Not that I don't understand, it's more a curiosity thing, but how did people let others know if they were going to be late/couldn't make it before mobile phones etc?
You just got your shit better organised earlier. If something unexpected happened and you were late, the other person just waited for you. If you didn't make it at all, they eventually worked it out and didn't wait any longer. Then the next day or some other time you would catch up and explain what happened. Not that I don't understand, it's more a curiosity thing, but how did people let others know if they were going to be late/couldn't make it before mobile phones etc?
You're old. I'd expect you to know![]()
