If we are going to lose them both, then may as well try to package them to a lower club. They would both be starters at 2 or 3 Victorian clubs.

Picks upgrade only proposition though, I would have thought. The days of packaging up fringe players for first round picks are over.

As long as we replace him with another kid, i've got no problem with this. Doesn't really matter what we get for him, he wouldn't have a lot of trade value. A pick upgrade would be fine.

This would leave us 4 picks in the national draft, meaning we would have to use our 4th round pick if we are not having a pick in the PSD.

It would be a great trade if we have a Mitch Thorp or Pods lined up as a PSD pick.

Doubt it, different circumstances. Good players that are starting 22 in many teams will always be squeezed out in a strong side with a lot of depth as ours has at the moment.

Our previous errors were mismanagement of good players causing them to go elsewehere (eg Clement).

Mello had over sixty shots on goal in the wafl, played as a mid/forward. Should of played more forward.
Only one game in AFL this year, deserved more, considerering who we are adding to the squad.
Will be a great pickup for a Melbourne club, similar circumstances to Clement.

Yes exactly, makes you wonder if Mello did everything he could have done to get back sooner according to the coaching staff. It sounds like he simply is one of the players that isn't buying in.

I would gladly do a trade for Mellington + 51 to Essendon for Gumby.

They don't exactly have many picks to work with (only 44 and 62) so they should be happy with 51!

I don't see how Gumby is worth more than Mello. Straight swap. Prefer a pick upgrade than Gumbleton to be honest.

I haven't read it anywhere. It's just been big footy talk that has been going for some time.
