left hand drive laws in victoria and the fact it'd cost a ****ing fortune (a large portion of which would go to the left to right conversion) to get a relatively modern pick up truck to tow my 4.3 tonne trailer.

Read the Nick Dal Santo thread on the North board, or just listen to this.
Now you are just using that to try and get me into some serious shit. Poor form by a mod who should know better.
Also why question my opinion?
courtjester is right you're an arseh*le

I'm not even going to bother pointing it out to you, since everyone in that thread already did. You clearly know f*** all about the area of trade week.

One thing that shits me on facebook these days is all the flogs who comment by solely tagging someone, instead of sharing to the person. Just shits me when you're trying to read comments and 9 out 10 are just muppets tagging other muppets.

When people have a crack at me for not washing my hands after using the toilet.
"oh boohoo the germs are gonna kill us waa waa"
You think when we were hiding from NATO airstrikes that we gave 2 shits about some piddly little germs? harden the **** up lad.

Why do you read comments on posts with many comments?

I feel dumber when I read them.

I'll put my hand up as one that is an apathetic australian.
Between the Tax department, medicare, immigration, banks and any other organisation that has asked information of me there really isn't much left for them to know so the above would just get lumped into the same basket. Probably sums up how interesting my life is that I couldn't really give a shit anymore and even if I did very little that I, this minnow in the pond could do about it.

Label me apathetic

I vouch for the person a few threads back about people in general. Seems all people want to do these days is whinge and complain.

I work in a local cafe, so I am always extremely frustrated when someone orders something like a pie or sausage roll, and i'm forced to ask 'would you like sauce with that?' and they reply 'yes'. FFS, why don't you just say 'can I get a pie with sauce please' instead of prompting another question. I've even resorted to not asking the follow-up sauce question if they solely ask for a pie or s.roll. Happened the other day, I took out a pie to a customer, they say 'oh, where's the sauce?' I ask if they asked for sauce. They say no. I raise my eyebrows at them, and walk away to get it for them.

Also don't like the people that are extremely picky. 'Oh can I please get a ham roll with a little bit of lettuce, a decent amount of carrot, one slice of tomato instead of two, two shakes of pepper and one of salt, a decent-sized dob of mayo, three slices of beetroot and a small amount of cheese. Oh, and an extra large cap, decaf with skinny milk, two and a half sugars, oh and could you please make it hotter than normal?'

I feel dumber when I read them.

A few reasons. Sometimes it comes up in my news ticker that a friend commented on it, so i'm interested to see what they said (since facey won't link you straight to their comment). Other times, say for a concert or something, i might have a question but want to see if anyone else has asked/had it answered yet.

But as a general rule, yes you're correct.

Sitting in a hostel in a quiet town tonight in NZ, only about ten people in the hostel, all european, irish or english except me and then i hear this bogan ozzie chick at near top of her lungs - "oooo yeah but at least i didn't tell him i was doing a shit or a dump or something"

So ****ing cringe.

Sound a bit like Old man yells at cloud here but a lot of young people need to have a bit of a step back when they are travelling. The reputation of Australian travellers, particularly through Asia, is really low. I don't know about with the locals as I've not been to Asia, but I've spent enough time in hostels through Australia and NZ with Europeans who come out here via Asia doing the standard Bali/Vietnam/Laos/Thailand trip to know that a lot are not fans of us.

Man that would suck. Quiet hostels occupied only by foreigners are awesome.

Which town? I've stayed in hostels before and thankfully never encountered an Australian bogan/feral. Generally find travellers to be a better kind if people. I'm doing 10 weeks backpacking through NZ over Christmas/New Years before I hit the US/Canada for about a year, can't wait.

I wonder why Australians are such dickhead travellers??
Say what you will about the Yanks but I find them very respectful and well-mannered in foreign countries.

Aussie travellers do have a bad rep in Europe as well. I just got back and I am shocked at some of the shit i saw and heard Aussies do. Lots of Americans travel around faking they are Canadian with Canadian flags etc. Soon we will need to fake we are Kiwis to be tolerated overseas. Aussie travellers shit me, very ignorant and lack respect, well the majority I ran into.

Lets face it, the only reason most Aussies go overseas is to get drunk. That's always bound to ruffle the native's feathers.

I'm in a place called Kaikora at the moment. It's on the South island about 200km North of Christchurch. Really recommend coming through here for a few mid week nights when you come over. Probably wouldn't stay for a weekend, but given you're here for 10 weeks you have enough time to sacrifice a weekend or two in a quite town along the journey. In saying that, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this place got quite lively on a weekend during January and February. There is about 7 backpacker hostels within about a square kilometre so I imagine there is enough demand in summer to cater for them.

Tiny town but there are a handful of bars which I plan on frequenting one or two tonight. But there's loads of stuff like walks, kayaking, whale watching, dolphin swims to do. Unfortunately my budget has been blown to shreds so my wholesome activities need to revolve around cheap or free things so I'll just be doing a hike today.

My biggest piece of advice for you, delay getting to Queenstown as long as you can. So many travellers I know have come to NZ for 2-3 months, get to Queenstown straight away and don't leave the place and don't do anything else they wanted too. Not even half an hour ago was chatting with an English lass who stayed in Queenstown for ten months of her twelve month visa and hardly saw anything else of NZ. It's a seriously awesome town, but so addicting. Definitely go to Queenstown, but get everything else out of the way first.

Wellington (south of the North island) is a great city for nightlife and gigs. I'm giving high consideration to moving there for a few months in January. One of my favourite cities on the planet. In Picton, Nelson and Abel Tasman (north of the South island) there is a big national park with loads of stuff to do. There is a four-five day hike through Malborough Sound (Picton) which looks really cool.

Not a fan of Auckland and I've only met a few people who like it. Don't ditch it completely on my advice but don't expect much of it. I don't know anything between Auckland and Wellington. Lake Taupo is supposed to be real nice, and same with Rotorua but the latter is more of a coupley thing.

Would give consideration buying a car for about $1000 and selling it when you leave.

It's such a good country. I'm so dumb taking till 25 (2009) before making my first trip across the ditch. Been back half a dozen times since.

It's not just going out getting drunk. I spend a lot my travelling time in bars, getting drunk, but I don't act any differently to how I would back home. For some reason so many of our countrymen see being overseas as an excuse for acting belligerent whilst on the piss and doing stuff they wouldn't do back in their home towns. I can see why they do it, but it's still stupid and you won't see many Germans, Spanish or Dutch deciding to go apeshit because they are out of the home country.
