Gee I like Jake Stringer.

Bloody Bulldogs could have taken Stringer at 5 and then Wines at 6. They were team mates at Bendigo Pioneers. Thank christ the Bulldogs took a skinny outside fast runner with pick 6.

Macrae will be a star and Stringer looks the goods. The smokey is Hunter. Super clever with the ball

To be fair Jackson Macrae looks a cracker too.

As I posted somewhere yesterday most of the players taken around that point look like being very good AFL footballers.

I'm pretty sure that we were going to take Mayes until Ollie fell through the cracks.

Bulldogs have more grunts than a full Huey over a hot LZ four clicks northwest of Da Nang.

As amazing as Wines is and will be they were right to add some elite outside run with that second pick.

Tribey please enlighten me on their grunt as I obviously have missed it as I haven't watched much of the doggies over the last 2 years. I see them as having a lot of 6 foot to 6 foot 3 interchangeable runners through the middle and flanks and no big bodied KPP's of note.

Plus Boyd and in previous years Daniel Cross, Callan Ward.

Tom Liberatore
Mitch Wallis
Matthew Boyd
Jake Stringer

Is a pretty good inside core to feed Cooney, Griffen, Macrae, Dahlhaus, Higgins, Hrovat and now Bontempelli on the outside.

Edit: Add Koby Stevens to the first lot too. Competitive beast.

Macrae will be a jet & is the type of player they required on needs basis, they have a few gun in & under onballers in Libba, Smith & Wallis plus they picked up Hunter who is a decent mid.

We were lucky to be in a position to land him or Mayes, hopefully Sam has no ill feelings about being overlooked because Ken & the hypno-Rhode will no doubt be in his ear in the future about a return home eventually.

Libba being small like his old man I completely forgot - but you are right as the few times I have watched them, he gets a lot of hard ball gets for a little bloke. Wallis has impressed as well but as he's not a monster like Stringer and Ollie I thought of him as one of those runners.

Liberatore is an out and out beast.

Good enough to win a Brownlow this year, let alone over the next 5-8 years.

Noobz0r ruined our chances of recruiting sam mayes

The dogs back line is so underrated in my opinion Roughead,Morris,Talia,Murphy,Cooney. What other team could boast 2 genuine monsters at FB and CHB and then Murphy and Cooney off the flanks and the best med defender in the game in Morris. Problem is the forwards, if they nail one in the draft this year look out in 3-4 years because their midfield with McCartneys help is A grade.

I really like them. Even without a forward I cannot see them finishing below Melbourne, Saints, GWS, Brisbane. I would nearly add the eagles to that list but they surprised me yesterday.

Its interesting that since Ken got the gig at Port as a 46 year old, Richo appointed at 48, Roos at 50 Malthouse at 59, Thompson at 49 have been the coaches appointed since September/October 2012. McCartney was 51 when he was appointed 12 months before Ken.

Since then the U/40 coaches were , Leppitsch 38, Cameron was 40 when he took the gig to be under Sheedy for 12 months. Simpson 37
