Because he's not very good. I'm going to cry if we trade for him. Especially if it's our first pick...
3 cheers for igloo. Hip hip, hooray. Hip hip, hooray. Hip hip........Reid is average. Like jones. We blow a first rounder on him, I blow up BigFooty.

We all have access to watch Reid play.
He is doing Sydney's donkey work ( second ruck and roaming around getting lost in the land of giants)remember also he was injured for the majority of last season . I wouldn't sell the farm for him , but he'd be worth a second rounder for mine. Going to be interesting times ahead

You think that he's worth a pick earlier than what we paid for Crameri? Pick 30 at the VERY best, personally I think he's worth around pick 40. Average footballer.

Agree Patton's a better prospect. Why don't we get O'meara and Cameron while we're at it? and just grab Rory Thompson off the suns too.

Funny to read this stuff about Reid, just watched the full game and kept an eye on him due to all the talk we've had about him.

Is playing as a small in general play and protecting the get out kicks down the line when the balls in sydney's forward 50. Was vital in Sydneys centre square structure, crashing in off centre half forward from the bounces and layed big tackles and good distributing handballs. Had a very good night in close in the packs.

Also botched a kick to Buddy and kicked into the man on the mark. Also sizzled a 45 metre bullet to a leading man in the 50 though.

Is playing a different role and using his running ability. In 2012 he played as a key forward and kicked 32 goals. It's obvious Sydney rate him due to his versatility. He does need to work on his field kick.

Lot's of people should go back and watch him closely. Think they'll feel silly. If you don't go back and watch him closely then don't sass me because i saw the same botched kick to Buddy and kick into the man on the mark that you did, i just saw a lot more.

I seem to recall a poster on here a couple of years ago saying something along the lines of " the Reid boys were never coming to the Dogs". There seemed a hint of inside knowledge and some lingering bad blood over the treatment of their father. Perhaps money talks but we may not be his first choice.

I'm probably going to shelve the Reid talk regardless, he's valuable to Sydney and is becoming an upgraded version of LRT as a fixer of problems. Could be more but i'd be happy if i played for that mob.

Yeah I watched him pretty closely last night too and saw the same. Some really good things mixed in with some bad things. He really is so similar to Jones just in the way that if they could get some consistency in their game they would be fantastic. I honestly reckon those two would work well together though and are the right age that they should be finding that consistency now.

Wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to leave being thrown all around the field and with all those other guys up forward

i'd like to see how they did play together if it ever happened. he seems really coach-able. his game last night was just such a unique role and it's positive to see he has that in him considering how much he was the main target in 2012. Sydney have just got the best set up. Reid refuses to go inside 50 excessively because he takes a tall away from the other two. Watching the other two create space for each other is like looking at a work of art too.

i've probably gotten carried away with the idea though. a lot of water to go under the bridge before he's playing with us. it would be a pity for the club to pay massive overs. overs is fine but massive overs would make us all a bit nervous. i know something bold has to be done this year just not sure what. having said that if Mccartin falls to our pick we're bloody laughing. Look at Tom Hawkins and see the value of a smart footballer with size in the forward line. That is Mccartin.

I too watched Reid closely & was impressed a few times at his clean attack on the ball. Then he tried to kick and well...

I'm not going to argue whether he is a good player or not, I just feel that our team cannot sustain another guy with suspect kicking. Especially if he is our go to guy up the ground.

That said he is probably the guy that we will go for

I am a big advocate of trading for a key forward, but only if he is a garaunteed improvement to our ball movement. Not sure Reid would be.

.

Surely you can acknowledge that one of GWS' plethora of talls is more attainable than O'meara or Thompson. Jason McCartney would be derelict of his duty if hewas not putting serious work into getting one of them down here.
Hell if Patton is unattainable I'll happily take Tom Boyd.

i agree he's more attainable. if he is though we'll be competing with the rest of the vic clubs though. Mccartney's not the only wise guy. That's no reason for us not to have a crack though you're right.

Yep, we just have to go harder. At least we should have the cap room. Let's just hope he takes money & anonymity over success, exposure & other incentives.

We'd have to offer Sydney massive overs given he's contracted, and that would be a bad bad mistake.
This.
Then add the fact that Sydney are genuine contenders and we're years away.

For the guys that have watched the u18s a lot more than I have, is it fair to say Hugh Goddard has the same sort of attributes and plays sort of similarly to Reid but has much better skills and probably footy smarts?

needs to be in draft discussion ;)

but you mean Goddard to Reid? If we want the best skilled KPP, apparently Durdin is supposed to be highly skilled

now i've completed grade 1 of my draft education this year, so there's a lot to go but this early i'd say he's not as good at high marking but he's better in a scrap. Definitely better skills but not necessarily forward skills if you know what i mean. Actually reminds me a bit of a young Jarryd Roughead atm. i'll update that opinion though so no taking it as gospel

Honesty it should just be one thread, drafting and trading are too linked for seperate threads haha

Yeah my bad meant to say Reid. They don't have to be absolutely elite kicks as long as they have a lot of other things going for them but it is a big positive

Yeah that's sorta what I've thought. I would be wrapt with Goddard

From an outsider - looks like Fullers had injury concerns all year
There's a theory that he has a not debilitating but niggling shoulder injury that comes back from time to time.

He wasn't concerned by it in the early rounds and looked like he didn't have much of an idea - they were his first and third games though, to be fair.
