If someone had suggested pick 25 for Greenwood last year then people would have called for the doctor.

This year most would feel Greenwood is a good buy at 25 and happy to pay it.

Greenwood is proof that the fortunes of players can turn around on the back of one good season and whilst last year he would have been considered nothing more than a VFL level player if offered for trade now he's seen as an all but certain best 22 player.

If Crisp comes to the pies let's give him a full season or two to judge his worth shall we before we write him off as a spud.

A lot can change in a year.
We dont want a player that MIGHT be worth it.

I want the Lions to win, but that doesn't mean I want everyone else to suffer in their jocks.

It won't go well for the Lions in future trades if this is seen as a huge burn in trade terms. Swings and roundabouts.

The bigger issue going forward will be the reaction to what, lets face it, seems to be a perfectly orchestrated poaching expedition, initiated by Brisbane. Lets not con ourselves, this has been brewing for a while, and done in a fashion calculated to **** us over. Congratulations, well played.

Swings and roundabouts; I would be desperately disappointed if we dont look at some point down the track in inducing one of yours to require an immediate return to melbourne, on purely compassionate grounds of course, and miraculously nominate only Collingwood as a destination.

Swings and roundabouts. This has the prospect of unleashing a whirwind on you, and the more you force a win-lose, the more antagonism you store for the future. I hope this may be a tactical victory and stragtegic defeat. But definitely enjoy it while it lasts.

I was about to ask the same question :eek:
JUST LIKE THE PAST TWO YEARS
Day1) Collingwood PR
Day2) Collingwood PR
Day3) Collingwood PR
Day4) Collingwood PR
Day5) Collingwood PR
Day6) Collingwood PR etc
??????????????????????? announcement in last few days of trade period again like 2012/13

Yeah I agree..He may not have shown a lot but this isn't some mature aged bloke we're bringing in like Armstrong, or Russell that we know has failed at another club. The fact that Brisbane are happy to give him a 2 year contract if not traded show that at least they have hopes for him to become a consistent senior player.

Does anyone know if there is a no poaching policy in the AFL between clubs?

I know in my industry with key competitors and alliances we have an agreement but then again there are ways around that I've seen.

Is there any law that states a club can't approach players outside of trade periods to discuss futures or was it once seen as ethical.

So Crisp is now a pick 30 or 40
In this draft Id hate to see what the other Brisbane players are bringing.

That Brisbane list might be the greAtest of all time.

What were your thoughts regarding the recruitment of Karnezis this time last year?

After we got screwed by Brisbane for Christensen, I really hope they don't do it to you.

Trade him to GWS. Trade him to GC. Keep him. Just don't accept two picks and an unproven player for your second best player. Please.

Well it's going to happen! Please keep varcoe though

I actually do hope we keep Varcoe, so that works well with me!

I will seriously question our list management if we trade a contracted Varcoe (who by all accounts is happy to stay) after losing Christensen - we need all the pace we can get.

Don't worry.

Brisbane as a club is a failed experiment, and got their success on little merit, as every team that is unfairly pumped by the AFL. Your club, Hawthorn and us are the only teams who won the flag fairly in the past 7 years.

Screwing clubs over and forcing player to hold their clubs to ransom because they have massive space in their cap will come back to bite Brisbane. In the future, their players will want out, their club will be on the verge of folding, and strong, stable clubs like yours or ours will be here to collect the goods.

Well looks like its a done deal..
Another SHIT deal by Derek Hine.

We gain a workman like midfielder in Greenwood. (only one good season)
We gain a Flashy Injury prone running defender in Varcoe.
We gain a VFL list clogger. Crisp (won't last long at Pies).

We lose.
Beams (Gun mid who can kick goals) A grader.
Harry (running backline player) Granted last couple of years he's been average.

Looks like we have gone backwards in this trade as Greenwood is no Beams. Varcoe and Harry very similar (draw there).
Crisps. I wouldn't even bother with. May get some games but will be a fringe player at best.

The only thing is PICK 5. If we can land a decent player either in the draft or from a club.
Basically under the Buckley ERA we are STUFFED!!.
Why are all you destroyers and haters suddenly turning up here, did another anti-Collingwood forum close somewhere?

Only heard rumours surrounding Bundy's move to Brisbane but you were done over by him being out of contract. May have slipped to Brisbane anyway because bottom sides have an eye on bigger prizes. You got something albeit pretty shit. Was spewing for you.

Yes. It is against the rules to approach a contracted player during the season without the consent of his club, not to mention completely unethical.

If Eddie doesn't make a formal complaint about it, I would imagine we'll be returning the favour back to the Lions some time in the next few years.

Greenwood Varcoe and Crisp don't make us a good side. Better off without them.

You bagged out Crisp just because he was from a weak team. Seems contradictory to your bagging out of Greenwood who is a runner up B&f in a top four team.

Spot on.
Ive said it earlier, Beams has just joined the MM and Daisy ranks of campaigners who used to be part of this club. The way Brisbane have conducted themselves is pure genius, lets be honest. Painting themselves as innocent victims in the media has worked a treat with everyone in the football world except Pies fans.

I'd like to know the full story of Christensen's departure. I think there are some parallels with Beams. On the surface it's "personal, compassionate grounds" but dig a little deeper and it's a bit suspicious.

There are reports Christensen is being paid $450k over 4 years - something Geelong certainly wouldn't match when we have 10+ players ahead of him on the pay scale.

It smells to me like Brisbane's self proclaimed "war chest" exists to poach players from other clubs and hold their existing clubs to ransom.

Can't wait until the shoe's on the other foot. I reckon Hanley would look good in a Cats top (compassionate grounds - there are a lot of Irish pubs in Geelong!) and Rockliff would be handy alongside Pendlebury.

Anyway, rant over.

Godspeed Pies - I wish you all the best of luck for the week ahead.

TG is only happy when he is bagging someone out is the bottom line. Would be a tough bloke to hang out with at the pub.

Not sure how we can make a formal complaint unless there is some truth behind it.

Yes it may have happened, if so it's a dog act and if so unethical but really what are we going off, a bunch of BF posters mediating the AFL's trade program from behind a keyboard.

Let's just let it all play out first - everyone wants to go and attack something but nobody really knows what.

And if Ed does, he will be painted in the media as a sooky la la who cant cop one of his players leaving. Brisbane have managed to pull off the perfect heist.
Clap, Clap.
They just better not sook when the favour is returned.
