Not all players will develop and basically Harper, daw and hine arnt good enough! unless Harper turns things around if he goes to the dogs he will more than likely be delisted by them...

The thing is he will actually get the chance there. He will line up round 1 I have no doubt.
We'll see what happens.

I agree, and will probably sign on a three year deal as well.... We weren't going to offer that.

Yeah i hope he does do good at the dogs its his last chance i know his still young but true going there will give him a chance to further his career!

Jay Clark on SEN said as of last night Cooney still hadn't made up his mind.
Might be one of those situations where he's not fussed where he ends up whether that be us or the * just wants out . Regardless he's contracted & really has no say where he goes , dogs would & should take the best offer .

We should be happy for Harper if he makes it with the Dogs, not angry at the club. As others here are have mentioned, he needs AFL time, that's the type of development only a side like the Dogs can provide. For a spot on the HFF, he is behind Higgins, Wells, Harvey, Nahas, Turner, Bastinac, Adams and Cooney who have all displayed much better AFL form. Then there's Wood, Dumont and Garner who have all displayed much better VFL form playing at half forward, so it's not too farfetched to say that all three would be comfortably ahead of Harper for selection. With his VFL form not being the most inspiring, it's really hard to see him forcing his way past all 11 of those blokes to cement a spot in a flag contender.

It'd be cruel for us to hold onto him, we'd just be honouring his contract for the sake of it and keeping him for delisting fodder at the end of the season. There's a 0.01% chance that he'll succeed with North Melbourne, so I hope he kills it for the Dogs.

True true even local footy clubs lose players and buy players for different reasons its just the way it is

That's about it. In the past two years Harps has slipped further away from senior selection. Hasn't got even close for so long, while other players have improved and been rewarded with senior experience/emergency naming at least. Each draft - if we keep choosing well - puts him further back in consideration. I know he is only 22 but nothing has indicated he will fulfil his promise with North's list as it is. Presumably that's why he's open to a trade - more chances at a lower placed club is his only hope.

I attended training halfway during the year and saw Harps training away from the group individually with Mick Crocker. Trying to hit the target a short distance away but just wasn't happening for him. Thought back to my experiences of training away from the group in local footy. I could see it in his eyes, he was trying his heart out. Genuinely felt for him at that point. The bloke has heart.

I just wish him all the best and genuinely hopes he makes it for his sake.

I'm confused, some people are saying harper and 36 for Cooney and 27, others are saying harper and 36 for Cooney and 45. Option 1 is good, option 2 is meh :/

So, Harps out, Greg Inglis in.

Brett Anderson is still saying "my mail is that Cooney's preference is to join * but North hold the whip hand when comparing what each club has to offer the Bulldogs in exchange".

So are North opening a cafe? We should all meet up when the season starts and hang it on each other face to face..
Honestly I'd feel tougher if I just bagged people from a distance.

But hey, you're alright!

If that's true, let him go to *.

We're not fighting it out for Jeremy Cameron here. You want the players who themselves WANT to come to North.

Then if Cooney's preference is to be at the * next year then back off and let him go. I thought we were all about players buying into the North Melbourne ethos. If you don't want to play for us we don't want you. If true and Cooney is leaning toward the * then it's an indication we are getting into a bidding war for a player who just wants out and is not fussed where he lands. Wreaks of desperation to buy that flag if true!

pickers sounds like a ******* campaigner
He is a wheeler dealer taking advantage of the increased player power environment. That's his job and I doubt that he is twisting any of his players arms.
