I turned it off after catching the last few minutes of the interview with Cripps and hearing they are going back to back with Noble and Walsh

David Noble: "Okay, Roo wants me to follow what Port Adelaide has done." *thumbs through pages* "Well, they went from 14 to 21 and got a pretty good player last year..." *gets on phone* "Hello, is that Steven Wells? Yeah, will you trade 14 and 35 for 10 and 4- you will? Great! Why are you laughing?"

"Ruthless" and "team first" seem to be the buzz words down at West Lakes.

They are great concepts, but you can't just drop those words in pre season and hope to make them mean something. You need to instill the characteristics of each and then name and identify the. As such, otherwise it's pretty meaningless.

Rowe: "Nick Poulos has ties to Dubai. Are you going to be taking a little trip?"
Walsh: "Not this year, but I have asked about the costs. We're interested in heat training."

*Not word for word, just the gist, as they were speaking over each other.

Don't forget "brutal", "strong culture" and "quality individuals".
They will roll out "proud traditional club" soon.
Plastic, soulless franchise.

cRowe: "don't worry 19th man about what Port are doing & continually looking back in the rear view mirror"
Txter: "Rowe you are dreaming thinking Port are in the rear view mirror, they are that far in front it's funny"
cRowe: "who won the last showdown? Port are in the rear view" Delusion at it's finest :drunk:

So the Crows are in Melbourne's rearview mirror then?

I'd like to agree, but I don't agree with limiting it only to base contracts (though I do agree they merit special attention, and rookies too)

How can Sydney compete when a superstar FA can live in a fine Toorak mansion in Melbourne, but can't do anything equivalent in Sydney?

I've looked at rental prices in Adelaide vs Sydney regularly; For ~$450pw I could have a tidy 2BR just off Rundle St, or a squat 1BR in an cruddy dark apartment block in Sydney CBD. The top end has disparity too.
But for that particular home you get a lot more for your money, clubs, shops, beaches, everything sydney can offer that Adelaide or Melbourne doesn't really have.

Keep your eye firmly on the consolation prize, crows.

The 19th Man is such a shit concept, long may they continue to shove it down their throats.

It's not the concept that's shit. The original Seattle 12th man is done magnificently.

It's just poorly executed in Adelaide's case because there's no genuine passion behind it.

I have real respect for Noble, but I just reckon he sounds like a goose we he starts addressing the 19th man - "to the 19th man out there let me assure you..." after Rowe says to him, but the 19th man wants to be excited by your trades, but the 19th man is hearing crickets, but the 19th man is restless and wants you to have a crack etc etc.

Walsh said it in his interview too. No doubt 2 weeks ago he would have thought it as Cringeworty as the rest of us, but now he's clearly been instructed to push it. The AFC have invested huge dollars in this marketing strategy, 2 years on, despite heavy promotion, it still only receives lukewarm reaction from the Apricot Slice brigade.

But they've got a big flag and everythin'.

Thats why the COLA isn't worth the full difference in anchor costs between Sydney and other capitals.

Walsh used the same language. It's clearly coming from up top.
