Deathevocation - The Chalice of Ages.....Tribulation "The Horror"......Skeletonwitch "Beyond the Permafrost".
Great afternoon.

Could never get into that Deathevokation album. Think I bought a God Macabre shirt from the frontman some years back - geez, God Macabre were good. Obviously both myself and Deathevokation are Carnage fans!

Tankard - Kings of Beer on here.

Tankard are the best, got to talk to Olaf Zissell and shook the hand of Frank Thorwarth on their recent tour. I didn't wash my hand for a week. :p

Been listening to Imperium Dekadenz. :thumbsu: Listened to an Australian/Belgian band called Hammerstorm who sounded pretty good, too.

Imperium Dekadenz are a decent band, their latest album is a good one.

Feeling like shit because I'm missing mother, but Nightwish is making me feel a tad better. Been on a Nightwish bender in the last week or so. Oceanborn is the album I'm listening too.

Listening to the new Machine Head album Bloodstone And Diamonds. The first few songs are ok, but the rest so far has been weird. Not sure what to make of it just yet.

I'm actually looking forward to this one. MH aren't to the taste of many but besides the aberrations that were Burning Red and Supercharger they're one of the only bands that make me want to bang my head riff after riff. Spewing when I read they turned down Soundwave after apparently being burnt out by festivals. Hope they tour their own show in thay case.

I spelt the band name incorrectly...oh well..at least the song title had a "c" in it...

Never heard any God Macabre to be honest....Carnage yes..one glorious pre-Carcass Amott album with 3/4 of Dismember + the dude from Entombed cannot be anything but good.:thumbsu:

I didn't mind the 1st 2, I had the 2nd 2 which were stinkers - and managed to trade them both to a guy I knew at the time for a digipak copy of The More Things Change which I figured was rare. Used to have a VHS of their '95 Dynamo gig too which was a decent show, but lent that to a mate over a decade ago and his dad taped over the prick.

The first two are rippers. Might have been a so so band in metal circles had it not been for the next two absolute trainwrecks (Burning Red and Supercharger). Fair enough for no one to give them a go after that but IMO they've been on a pretty steady path to redemption and been maturing ever since. Burn my Eyes and The More Things Change had a charm about them I doubt they'll ever replicate. Definitely not going to justify why or advocate that anyone has to listen, like or forgive them, but I just reckon they're a lot of fun to listen to.

My listening can be pretty eclectic at the best of times though. I'll go from Machinehead to Protector, on to Metal Church then maybe Destroyer 666.

Speaking of the most latter, I got To the Devil His Due when it was released I think 4 years ago, spun it about 3 times then my turntable died and every time I see or hear D666 it reminds me I have to buy another one. #coolstory

I bought The Blackening based on all the hype and rarely listen to it. A mate gave me the last one and I didn't even make it through the whole thing.....dunno what it is. I have nothing against them really and have never heard the Burning Red or Supercharger. I might like even them...I tend to like commercial stuff.

LOL. The days of taping over things unless you pushed that little plastic bit out on the side of the video or cassette tape. My first metal video was W.A.S.P. live at the Lyceum and it cost me $10 from Metal for Melbourne. Had "**** Like a Beast" on it which was incredible for us coz no-one had ever heard it until then.

Spot on dwwaino, I am the same..... Can start the day with Saturnus to Warrior Soul to Running Wild to Amorphis and back again....

Get the God Macabre album - Relapse re-released it. Great album.

Been playing the new Obituary a bit. Not bad though talk about a band which never backed up its first two albums. Cause of Death is one of my favourite albums ever. James Murphy is sensational on it.

Just finished listening to this. Was wondering what people would make of it. It's different but not terrible, as much as a douche as Flynn can be he's fairly talented and the riffs are normally good. I like 'Sail into the black' for some reason, even though I keep thinking it's going to go into the Vikings theme.

Yeah same - I bought it based on the hype and didn't make it through the 2nd song, I don't know what their deal is, I just don't know what it is that they're trying to do, or be, or make anymore. Long songs that aren't epic nor groovy or catchy.

Ha yep. And if you wanted to tape over a tape that already had the plastic tab snapped off, you just put some duck tape over it. :D:thumbsu:

I still have all my tapes from back in 1997-1999 odd when me and mates used to sit around all night taping Rage & Amped/Heavy Shift(?? various incarnations of the Channel V token metal show they had) back in the day, it's kinda sad that kids will never have to do that again these days with everything on YouTube.

I've been listening to a bit of the Nuclear Blast youtube stream for the past 20 mins and it definitely sounds like a step on from Into the Locusts. I think it's currently on Sail into the Black which sounds like it has a bit of more laid back feel with a brooding guitar solo. Flicking through the rest of it so I don't spoil it for when I grab it on Thursday there doesn't sound like it has as many hook riffs as they would usually do. That Imaginal Cells sounds like another Real Eyes... type of thing from Burn My Eyes. So just a quick listen through Eyes of the Dead is my first stand out with some cool thrash riffs and quick guitar runs. Had a pretty shitty break down but redeemed itself with a ripper solo straight after. My overall premature impression on the whole though is the album starts off pretty brutal and typical Machinehead before it starts to explore some new areas. Not to sure on Beneath the Silt, Rob might be trying to bite off more than he can chew with those sort of vocals haha. Will give it a better go when I have a real copy in my hands.

Never heard Burning Red or Supercharger? Burning Red was pretty good for a nu-metal album, but hated Supercharger.

Agree with others though, their first album was their best by a long way. Haven;'t listened to Machine Head since The Blackening to be honest and i don't think i'd go out of my way to listen to them anymore, but i'd enjoy them if i was having a few drinks around people who put them on.

I've listened to it all the way through once and yeah, I'm a bit the same. Has some great moments but vocally I think he's trying to do too much. Sing, growl, scream, then that annoying soft whisper thing he does. And what's the go with that Imaginal Cells song? Like an instrumental with some weird voice grabs over it. That Sail into the Black song isn't really my go either. Having said that I think I need to listen a few more times to make a proper opinion.

Also bought the new Slipknot album, good listen to be honest. Doesn't sound too different to Stone Sour to my ears which is a good thing.

I treated Machine Head a bit like Fear factory in that I loved their debuts..thought both their second releases were pretty good...and lost all intrest thereafter.

Fear Factory actually had a big return to form a couple of years ago with the album they did with Gene Hoglan on drums (Mechanised?). It was probably the heaviest thing they did since Demanufacture. They then however, preceded to follow it up with a drum programmed album that stunk, but probably snapped up a lot of sales from all the bandwagoners that bought the last album, like me. They didn't even tour for that album here and instead did that Demanufacture reunion tour here in Aus.
