Just caught up on the last couple of days of posts and thought I'd butt in on the EPL chat. Now I'm not a hardcore follower of EPL but I do my best, don't stay up til 4am like the hardcore supporters or anything.

It's fair to be angry that some clubs (such as city) are spending large amounts of money, but it's decidedly unfair to blame them for it when its well within the rules set out by the governing body.

If there's any issue regarding spending it's 100% a problem with the EPL itself and until those rules are changed it's a bit weird to hate on teams that haven't broken any kind of rules and the hate would be better placed pressuring for spending and transfer caps.

City is the team that cops it most often these days due to the large spending over the last 5 or so years, but theres been clubs that have been spending big for decades, its nothing new.

And to claim these clubs only buy players is a bit strange. City for example pump millions into Development Academys to identify and nurture home grown talent, womens squads and training bases are a huge focus.

Players like Joe Hart identified and developed through Man City, loaned out for a while in the standard model and then brought home to become arguably the best keeper in England today, yes money was involved in the development but it's not the only thing.

I openly admit that City have used a LOT of cash, but it's not like they went out and bought up Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez etc, they identified weaknesses, found good players they thought would fill the role and lured them across and have developed .... "harmonious" ... squads. They work well together. Guys like Fernandinho were chased because they fitted into a need that was missing, and have done extremely well when moving over.

It's not that I find politics boring. I find other people's opinions on it boring. If I want to read about it I'll head to the Politics board, which I don't.

I notice a Sex Party leader (?!) on the box the other day saying that if they could/did re-badge themselves, the name that would fit best would be the liberal party. As in true liberal, not the conservatives dressed as liberals. Greens are also progressive, of course.

Unfortunately, the Australian Liberal stole the term 'liberal' and has a adapted it to mean something entirely different. To acknowledge that they have stolen the word 'liberal', they call the true liberals 'little l liberals'.

It's an absolute disgrace and travesty to true liberals that they cannot form a party with a name which ascribes to their liberal views because of bunch of far right christian conservatives have stolen their name and dirtied it.

Menzies created the party for that very purpose, to instill liberal democratic and economic ideals and emphasising social conservatism and tradition. Since Fraser's time, the party has increasingly become a more right wing conservative party and the liberal faction now led by Turnbull is fading within the party.

True Menzies stole the word, but l truly believe he was trying to develop a more liberal oriented nation for the people.
