Unfortunately after that dopey Pom dropped him on zero in the first game he is now locked into the side for the rest of the tournament.
Wouldn't have made a difference. He'd still be in the team. Bailey was in poor form as is Watson.

We can bag him but I don't care how he makes runs as long as he does. He does average over 50 for the year. A slogger yes, a guy with no defence yes, but he is in our best ODI side- we can afford a bloke who is hit and miss if we have blokes like Faulkner/Haddin/Johnson all the way down to 9.

People seem to be forgetting that....if you want to get rid of Finch......shudders...shudders more...Watson is back in...or the Tasmanian bloke who struggled against England...yes England!

His record over the last year is excellent, whilst I'm not a fan, I can't begrudge him his place, however, playing all rounders or sloggers is fraught with danger.

True, I just reckon he has melting on the big stage when it actually matters written all over him.

Yes but the options are Watson and Bailey. I'd take Finch 1 in 2 or 3 over those two blokes any day of the week!

Doubt it was in any serious danger anyway, non Warner.

Australia always likes to drop batsmen after a loss and almost never after a win, so I guess if we lost 2 in a row maybe one of them would have been shipped off.

Dropped on nought?
point being? Steve Waugh was famously dropped in the world cup. Sure there'd be other examples too!

He has a flaw, not arguing that at all. Facts are he scores in spite of that flaw.

Exactly. I swear if I got a dollar for every time someone said 'but he was dropped on X'...I'd be a dead set millionaire. I don't care how a batsman gets runs or how a bowler gets wickets. What matters is what is in the scoreboard.

Almost clichéd saying at my club "score book doesn't say how you got them, only how many of them"

Bingo. I'm so over people complaining when a batsman gets dropped. Every single batsman gets dropped. Some a few more than others, but who cares. It is the runs that matter.

The point is it's a very fine line, Warner and Smith both almost chopped on early yesterday.

So they didn't get out, thanks for the description. ABDV was almost out in his 160 odd early....you going to discredit that one too? Every batsman gets a bit of luck, especially more so when you are in form.

I saw AB get dropped a further 2-3 times during that innings. Hit it hard and it's harder to catch.

He's lauded a freak (and rightfully so) yet Finch is just lucky. He slogs yes, but he can and does play proper cricket shots too.

Brian Lara got dropped on 18 during his innings of 501, lucky as well.

and that is checkmate to that argument:)

I would've told the catch dropper, "you're opening, you owe us a few runs" :D

When he actually moves his feet Finch looks 10 times the batsman than he usually is. He is better than a slogging hack. He actually drives very well thought the covers.

That's the modern game, though, it seems....with 300 becoming the par score more and more, you can only really afford 1-2 "steady" batsmen in your team.
