He can play shut down, attacking half back, wing and when he develops physically, he'll head into the centre. His footy smarts are kicking are much better too. I see a bit of Brendon Goddard with Cutler

Cutler had 32 possessions in just his 8th game (pretty good for anyone); Yeo hasn't had more than 25 once and he's well into his 4th season!

I don't actually think it's all that close either.

Yeo can also play all those positions, and he is better at all of them. His ability at clearances far exceeds Cuts as well. And, Yeo can play really well on the forward flank. Nothing against Cuts, I really like what he offers and what can and will provide us, it's just that Yeo is in another class.

While he can play up forward, he is a terrible set shot for goal. Did you see his game on the weekend? There was a patch where he could have kicked 3 in 10 mins, and only managed to score a point. I happen to agree with Panthera, I think Cuts will become a superior player to Yeo.

It seems to me that these discussions about Cutler and Yeo aren't really comparing apples with apples. Just the fact that Yeo has been a professional football for a few more years than Cutler. That alone makes a fair difference. I don't see Yeo's quality as being unattainable by Cutler but he is several years behind. Yeo at the same point in his career was only just breaking into the Lions team on a regular-ish basis and was prone to some fairly ordinary moments. No surprise for young players. Get two more seasons of footy into Cutler and he will quite probably flourish as Yeo has begun to do.

Whatever way you look at it; whether the trading was fair or not, we sliced that draft apart (even if Aish buggers off):

7. Aish Likely to be heading off, but we had to pick him and back ourselves in.
22. Gardiner (Polec trade). I know who I'd want fighting for a Lions' win , but yes, Polec can become a star wingman.
25. McStay (Longer trade). McStay will become a very important player moving forward. Longer has had more than 7 kicks once at St.Kilda and has kicked only the 1 goal since moving there. Once the hit-out is contested, he's done.
28. Taylor (Yeo trade). 2014 Rising star, will only get better and can play multiple positions and kick goals.
33. Cutler (Docherty trade). Probably the most comparable position wise, Doc doing OK at Carlton, Cutler had 32p in his just his 8th game.
34. Robertson Future bull at gate centre square midfielder, but has some skills too.
62. Freeman Still an unknown quantity, but there are signs he could be a very handy forward (Academy pick).
75. Clarke Hidden gem from the bush who we upgraded from the rookie list. Still learning and gaining experience.

Yes he certainly is. The kid is an absolute jet and I think he has surpassed everyone's expectations this year.

The out-of-contract South Australian has been the cause for many headlines and much discussion around Brisbane early in the season, but he let his footy doing the talking against Port. After being a late replacement for Claye Beams (knee), Aish racked up 18 disposals in his best performance of the year, but the reaction of his teammates was telling after he was clobbered by Paddy Ryder during the third quarter. With Aish sprawled on the ground, six to eight Lions flew in within a matter of seconds to remonstrate with Ryder for what they thought was a cheap shot. His teammates clearly want Aish to re-sign and stay with the Lions.

And this has annoyed me since day one. Straighten up son.
Don't get me wrong, he can play and I hope he stays, but all the talk on the crows board re his foot skills etc, I just don't see at the min.

For mine, he makes pretty good decisions about low-risk but effective kicks. I haven't seen him pick out pinpoint targets or anything, but he generally makes the right call with it.

I have no doubt that he will turn out a very well rounded footballer. I don't think he's the idiosyncratic type who gets by with an outstanding attribute, but there is nothing he does badly.

I'd love to see him stay, but more than anything I'd just like to know one way or the other.
