Sorry to intrude but would you do a trade of Birchall for pick 9 or 10 with GWS?
There is no way we would trade one of our very best players and favourite sons for a pick 9 or 10. Clubs usually have untouchables lists and Birchall is right up there on ours. There are also some players that are so well liked and respected within a club that trading them for a potential pick would seriously threaten the inner sanctum and culture of a club. Birchall is one of those players, the fact he is a superb footballer and will go down as a Hawthorn champion also helps.

Not trying to have a go at you or be rude but he is so highly regarded amongst the team and the coaches that this fantasy trade means it's no chance in hell.

To say it's only GWS or Hawks is wrong!
Not just incorrect, but 'wrong'?

For you to post this means that you know as a fact that there is another club in the running. Who is it?

Clubs dream that a Pick 1 will end up a 200 game player, with 3x Premierships to his name. We have that & he's only 27. It's very real that by season's end he'll be a 4x Premiership Player - at 27.

To suggest that we'd give him to a club that is essentially our main contender in 2016-2020 (the rest of Birchall's career) for Pick 9 is about the same as them giving us Jeremy Cameron for Pick 18 + 54.

Pick 9 + 10 is conceivable, but not for 9 or 10.

Any truth to the rumour that David Hale's partner wants to move back home to the Gold Coast?

Have heard it but more than likely will be a move made once Hale retires (which could be at years end)
Interesting. Gold Coast did reach out to Sandilands earlier this year so I think they are open to recruiting another tall that can ruck. Zac Smith is really struggling and Hale tore the Suns a new one on Saturday so I'm sure they would at least be looking at the possiblity. Plus he's a Gold Coast local so that's appealing as well. I think he's contracted to Hawthorn beyond this season so it would have to be a trade for it to occur. Just out of curiousity, without getting ridiculous or greedy, what kind of player would the Hawks want from the Suns if this hypothetical trade went ahead?

I know nothing (Jon Snow), but just find it interesting that you come on here declaring 100% that the other poster is wrong, and yet carry zero credibility.
You been way too harsh and snappy IMO. He already explained what had happened with his password plus new computer and then explained quite rightly that it's utter rubbish that Hawks or Giants are the only ones in the race to get him!! Mate, only the delusional would think that, Bombers have been at his ear for two years now and don't count out the Pies.

Richmond and St Kilda
Tigers and Hawks have been chasing him for over 12 months
St Kilda not as long
That's just the 2 others that I know as FACT, and I'll bet my left nut there are a few others that I don't know as fact too!

Yeah, but losing your password does not give you credibility. I'm not being argumentative for no reason here. Without any previous posts, I don't know how a person trends as far as their general attitudes.

If a perennial optimist comes on here and says "Nah mate, we're no chance", that means a hell of a lot more than someone who spent 5 pages declaring that "games over, window closed".

So yeah, no offence meant by me, but my point stands that any person can make categorical statements of who is and isn't correct, but without context, it's meaningless.

David Hale is a two time Premiership player: an experienced ruck man that stands at 201cm and 102 kg that can do a surprising amount of running (watch him run McIntosh into the ground). He also gets goal-side and is a great contested mark. His impact on our side can become really pronounced due to his contested marking and sheer physical presence, which Roughead hasn't really had this year.

That being said, he's 31 years old (going on 32 I believe) and has had back problems, to the point where it was expected his career would be unfortunately over. His recovery this year was unexpected and good to see.
He's also not particularly quick and can sometimes fade out of games.

With McEvoy waiting in the wings (and hopefully a kick up his ass to perform), it could be conceivable to trade Hale to the Gold Coast. I wouldn't like it, but it's conceivable given his age. We certainly did it to other players like Renouf and Williams when they had injury queries over them.

In 2012 Hawthorn traded picks 21 and picks 41 to the Bulldogs for Lake and Pick 27. Lake was an established player, but also had injury problems and queries that he would never be "the player he used to be". He came over to Hawthorn and rejuvenated his career.

Best case scenario is probably Gold Coast's second round and third round pick for Hale and our second. This way, Hawthorn gets a substantial upgrade on their second round pick (Gold Coast's second pick is probably going to be in the 19-22 range unless they have a massive form turnaround) and a sweetener with the third. Gold Coast get a pick downgrade on their second, but also get an experienced Premiership ruck man in David Hale. Again, I say this is probably the best case scenario. Worst case is probably Hale+Third (to GC) for Third+Fourth pick.

It also means that Hawthorn have a bit more flexibility when it comes to further trades as they have more of the proverbial weight to throw around with draft picks.

In terms of players, there's really two things Hawthorn probably want: a genuine midfield class or a potential KPF. Gold Coast don't really have players in those departments that they'd want to part with (looking at you Peter Wright and O'Meara), meaning a player for player trade would most likely not occur. Hawthorn could potentially be interested in defender Jack Leslie who's basically a carbon copy of Lake in terms of size, but with Brand and Heatherly coming through the system with high prospects from the coaches I don't think we'd be too interested in drafting key backman and if we were we'd do so through the draft.

If a hypothetical trade went ahead, I'd expect it to probably be for picks alone.

Dixon has a lot of fans on this board...

I believe we were interested in Charlie Dixon in 2012 but he knocked us back and resigned. As stupid as this 'holding a grudge' thing sounds, I don't think the club would re-chase a player who has already knocked us back once. That being said, if he wants to come to Hawthorn for reasonable money, I wouldn't complain.

"He signed a three-year deal at the end of 2012 worth about $1m after attracting strong interest from Hawthorn"

I think people are well within their right to question this random new poster. The reason I prefer LM's view over this guy who lost his password, is LM has been a part of this forum longer, and some of his rumours have proven accurate, giving him some sense of credibility.

People can question the accuracy of his rumours (that's the point of a rumour mill). But expect backlash when you have 1 post to your name, you say "that rumour is rubbish" and then don't give any evidence aside from "you can believe me, I am a previous forum member, but uh, I forget my passwords".

That's right. I assume the Dixon money was later used to recruit Lake.

I think the idea was that Charlie wanted to stay in Queensland, hence why Brisbane are currently chasing him.

Thought I should probably post something in relation to the way the Dylan Shiel talk is going on this thread.

I am well within my rights not to divulge my contact/s who has told me about Dylan's conundrum as I have nothing to gain from doing so but a hell of a lot to lose. My credibility on Bigfooty means zero to me on this scale. In all honesty I probably should have held my cards closer to my chest on this one such is the respect I have for the providing source. What I post on this topic is not my opinion or wishful thinking but rather what I deem very valuable information around these parts.
I post updates on where the kid is at for posters to view and comment on as I believe the information I am getting to be true at the time I post it and couldn't help myself in sharing with you all.

I have mentioned in these forums numerous times before that I have close contacts with the Dandenong Stingrays, all of which I will not name for obvious reasons.

I have no problem with debutant or team of the century bigfooty posters debating/doubting my comments. Make of them what you will but do ask yourself where you heard your information and where I might be getting mine from before rubbishing my posts.

Cheers

LM

No. And I officially speak on behalf of the club.

3 time premiership player and All Australian and a future Hawthorn Legend for a single pick that is essentially a stab in the dark. It's a little insulting to be honest.

Fixed the omission in your post!

As long as you are not deliberately making up garbage (which I absolutely don't believe you are), you shouldn't feel the need to explain yourself. People will make of your posts what they like. A lot of stuff changes with time so just because some comments/predictions don't come true doesn't mean they weren't an accurate reflection of the state of things at the time the comment was posted here. Keep posting otherwise we will be left with nothing but SEN rumors in here!!

Thanks LM, whether you are right or not isn't the point, you've got credibility on your side on this one, which is why there was such a backlash to the rubbishing of your point.

In fact, not one bit of evidence has been proposed in conflict of yours.

LM: "Shiel is not considering any options aside from GWS/Hawks at the moment"
Others: "Other clubs are pursuing Shiel"

These rumours are not mutually exclusive!
