When has he showed any of those traits?
Its all based on hype, hype which I dont quite understand im afraid

If he was no good, the club wouldn't have bothered to retain him.

If Newman can get on the park i think he should played in the Lecra mold and that is in the midfield and floating forward. Lecra inst getting any younger so could be a decent replacement further down the track. I doubt he will be playing this year and should concentrate getting back to the WAFL and playing good footy.

the club is willing to keep him on the list while he's in jail?

I think this is the main point. The club obviously rate him very highly.

For all the talk about player welfare and looking after the player etc, you know that if the club didn't really rate him, the conversation would have gone more along the lines of:

"we value Murray as a player and will continue to provide support to him and his family, but the club has minimum behavioural standards and Murray has failed to live up to those. On this basis, the club has no option but to release Murray from his contract."

Highly Unlikely
Still don't get what everyone here see's in Newman
Bloke is barely on our list
I agree with HE on this.

I don't think he's a particularly great kick, it's "neat" but not top tier. I rate it very much along the line of Gaffs
He's not overly quick
He's not a contested ball winning beast, nor does he have the running capacity to be a pure outside player
He's not great overhead like an Elliott
He doesn't have the goal kicking nous of say a Milne

I just don't know where he fits as a player. I don't see him as a half forward as I don't see him cracking our top 8 mids who will all rotate through the middle and flanks. I don't see him ever getting a place ahead of Cripps so the only spot I possibly see him in is the other pocket currently occupied by Hill.

We're in a position at the moment where he will find it very tough to break in. Would be good for him to have an extended WAFL run in any case.

Under rating his talent. I think he'll be pushing games as games pretty quickly.

I'm a big fan of Newman make no mistake.

At the expense of who though? At best I could see Hill declining over the period of three or four weeks which could give him a sniff.

If you really want cruel think back to our own Brad Smith. Recruited to play full forward for us in 05/06 but done his knee twice and never got to play a game. He could have been a premiership player.

iirc he had Sydney's interest as an 18/19 year old, went over there and ended up getting glandular fever. Took a few years off and came back to WAFL and ended up getting picked up by us in 05.

Agree that Muzz isn't best 22 yet but I can guarantee he's in the club's plan based on how they dealt with him after his release. Have a pretty good knowledge of how they mentored him and the club went all out to keep him on the right track, I'll be surprised if they don't work him into the mix consistently next season.

He'll definitely get a couple games this year, even if only to confirm he won't make it.

I'm not convinced of this at all (not an opinion, but just a thought that could be possible), but the club's support of him through court, jail, injury etc could have to do with their image. Cousins has continually damaged WC's image, and now Kerr as well. At least with the support he's received he hasn't had a downward spiral which could be devastating for public relations.

Lambs an odd one. Not sure where he fits into the team.

Unfortunate that he and Darling were injured at the same time, might have seen a bit more of what he had to offer.

If Darling comes in for McInnes, then there may be a spot for Lamb at the same time - with them being more running type talls they could theoretically play in the same side.

Brown (knee) season
Mackenzie (knee) season
Tunbridge (ankle) season
McGinnity (wrist) 4-5 weeks
Lamb (knee) 3 weeks
Rosa (hamstring) test

Let's face it kids this is about as good as its gonna get in 2015. We have to rack up the W's before it all turns to mud again.

It's a shame that a year we are in form and have a great injury list for this time of year, the 2 that are out for the year are almost deal breakers when it comes to winning a flag this year

I agree with Mackenzie, but I'm not so sure with Brown. I think this year has shown a more skilful backline can work better than having 2 lockdown KPD. Hopefully, this lesson is learnt by the coaches, but their desire to rush Selwood back into the midfield makes me wonder if they are really learning.

Would be allot worse if it was Shuey and Gaff! our backs and forwards at least have some depth.
