Didn't Heppell have something similar prior to the finals series last season and only miss 1-2? Hopefully the same scenario for spitter

Watching the final quarter again now. Anyone notice swallows tackle that lead to Higgins 4th goal? Was massive! Had a great final quarter did the skipper.

Andrew Swallow is a hardworking brave player but his hesitation to attempt a pass into the forward line at one point said a lot about his own confidence in his ability.

This is an AFL club captain who didn't back himself to hit a short pass. Great head over the ball fair player but that is a big concern.

Needs to be traded while he still has currency imo. We have plenty of inside and Swallow has the worst kick out of all them. He is also a massive liability on the spread as he is way too slow.

I respect your right to an opinion, but I reserve my right to disagree with this more than I have ever disagreed with anything in this board, EVER.

He is so important to us. Massively underrated by so many of our own supporters.

There's a place for Andrew Swallow in a premiership team as the 3rd or 4th onballer who wins inside ball and applies great defensive pressure.

Trouble is at north through lack of developed options and assignment of roles he's basically the 1st or 2nd best mid but hasn't got anywhere near the offensive game to justify that role.

Can't kick and can't run.

Still very important to us. Very much needed at the coal face.

It's a bit embarrassing he can't hit a target over 30m and has arguably the least penetrating kick in the comp.

Does a lot of hardwork. Will be better once Dal is back and can feed off him, reducing the need for Swallow to kick.

He has a really non-silky way of kicking, his action is just messy and doesn't look right. And he can't kick very far. But anyone thinking that we should trade him is very wrong, he's one of our best players and without his work in close and his tackling pressure we'd be far worse off.

I've been saying it for years; Swallow is not a footballer!

He is a contested beast with very few football smarts about him. He is not a natural footballer!

Simpson wasn't a great user of the football either, however he knew his limitations and played to them extremely well. He used football smarts, something Swallow must use to become a great footballer of the NMFC!

His kicking was fine before his injury.

Short memories.

He's a 90s style of player, if he get time to swing into the kick a bit he can it roughly where it needs to go. Like a poor man's Anthony Stevens.

His kicking was minimum standard pre-injury, not tagger or fullback level bad but I'd say even Brady Rawlings had a better natural action.

Probably selling his football nouse a little short there Pezman.

There's no question that with a list containing Ziebell, Cunners, Swallow, Dumont, Basti and McKenzie, there's too many midfield positions being taken up by, as well as too much salary cap being swallowed up by, one-paced inside mids. For team balance one of the higher paid ones probably needs to be traded out for a mid who's better on the spread and run-and-carry. But which one to trade out?

I'd offer up McKenzie, Basti and ........ Geez it's hard to choose between Ziebs, Cunners and Swallow. I'm least inclined to trade Cunners on pure talent, but Swallow and Ziebs are the team leaders. So........ I rate Cunners at the clearance and Ziebs as a midfielder who can kick goals up forward, so it probably is Swallow who gets put on the trading block. Not sure what trading the captain does for team culture though???

Dumont could easily be traded out IMO, despite his obvious talent. He's just doesn't play in a position we need, and as such he's something of a trade-able luxury.

Was about to point out his crunch goal but then remembered a young Swallow kicking the winning goal in the last minute against a then competitive Melbourne many decades ago.

Apart from Goldy and Ziebell, don't think any regular 22 player is playing well. Spitta has short arms, hence the odd kicking style but other than that I think he is a good mid but like the rest, one paced. Having said that he is probably the quickest of the inside group.
