Not footy related but multiculturalism discussion on 5AA with the intellectual powerhouse that is Ali Clarke. A guy rings in referencing a book that predicted some of the negative issues society would face regarding multiculturalism and she hits him with " dont you love being able to enjoy a bowl of pasta?"
I kid you not.

I don't understand how the likes of Ali Carlarke ascend so high in their field. At some point you'd expect someone would assess their performance for what it is and their ceiling would be volunteering at CoastFM or writing for the Nhill Sentinel or something, but nope! Multiple jobs across all media.

Liked by soccer mums > Credibility and intelligence.

Hahha. So true. The media in this state is full of these types of spuds. Rowe, Wildy and Bickley would not get a gig in Melbourne as boundary riders for the under 18 comp. But no, in pissantville these bloke are prime movers and shakers in the sporting media world.

In her case I'd say quota filling or jobs for the boys (wives), it certainly isn't on talent
(Before I don my flame suit, this is not intended as a dig at female presenters)

In her defence, she did tip Hawthorn last week, where all the other sycophants/ambassadors tipped their lovely boys.

Clearly possessing a functional brain is a optional extra, amongst the criteria for working at 5AA.

Headline to Bone's story about the Robbie Gray tackle "accidents happen". Can't recall exactly what Bone had to say about the Vince/Dangerfield imbroglio last year but I can bet he was not as soft on Vince as he was on Gibbs, and Dangerfield didn't get his head ploughed into the ground. Like many others he happily misses the point that the result is what is the matter here, we are not talking about a case where two players accidentally bumped and one came off worse, Gray was made unable to protect himself by Gibbs, anything after that becomes Gibbs' responsibility.
Bone says that instead of taking Gray to the ground immediately and possibly causing severe damage he chose an alternative and far less dangerous method. Really, he had all that time to think of a safer method? If he did, why didn't he release Gray's arms and allow him to protect himself from hitting the ground so hard?
Then he goes on about the penalties that the Hawthorn players got. He describes them as light punches to the stomach region, both were, but in particular the Betts one, they were little more than jumper punches. Does he want to rub everyone out who shows a bit of aggression?
Gibbs act has been described by Bone as a legal act. In 1975 the tackle that was made by Kevin O'Keeffe on Neil Sachse would have been described as legal. There was no duty of care in 1975, there is now.

I am pretty sure it wasn't a tackle and was Sasche (a great bloke) ducking his head into an oncoming O'keefe.

I had to smile tonight when a caller spoke to 5AA about those light punches.
What if, he said, at the centre bounce one team gives their opponent's a tap in the stomach. That's their players out of action for a while and it would be easy to get the ball going your way lol ... interesting

Did that caller also ask what if the teams best player was put out of action for a half of football?

Sometimes I'll read Nicolle Flint's thinly disguised Liberal HQ communiques for shits 'n' giggles...

It just shows the how deep her understanding of multiculturalism is. Wasn't a politician pilloried a few years ago for saying how much she loves multiculturalism because of all the different foods she's now able to eat?
Don't know why people get their knickers in a twist over multiculturalism.

Australia has been multicultural since 1788.

You're right. Here it is.

That would be a more difficult one to adjudicate on as Sachse certainly ducked and O'Keeffe couldn't be said to have done anything but run towards a player.

Roo is really sinking the boot in in the Advertiser article.

He's family of good friends of ours...

We went to his fundraiser at the races a couple of weeks ago. Amazing man.

5AA is a parody of the radio stations from Grand Theft Auto.

That is abhorrent.

"Australia" was made up of hundreds of languages, cultures and legals systems before Europeans and their bugs cleansed the joint.

Pure deflection from Roopy. With the Camporeale incident, Clanger about to leave and questions whether Wal$h has really improved things at the Camry's, writing an article about Port is just a soft target and an easy way to deflect attention away from the West Lakes Carpark

Roo really shouldn't be doing media like he is as Caro has said. It doesn't help that he is a genuinely woeful media personality to boot.

Those shorts...

But seriously, that incident should be more highly publicised in the current era with all the hooha around ducking and head contact.

And again, those shorts...

Yeah heard him on triple M this morning saying we wont come back from the slump this year. Well, knowing his football nous, we are set for a ripper end of the season!

The reason why it is not publicised so much is whilst the collision is a contributing factor, the medical treatment given on field led to the horrific outcome. His neck wasn't stabilised correctly and team mates/medical staff tried to get him off the ground
