I'd say the high percentage of footy nuts in Melbourne would make that an easy task. Not to mention being traded to a high profile Melbourne club and getting plenty of $$. The pieces don't quite fit to why he wants to go to Melbourne. It stinks of bullshit TBH

- Tired of your private life being invaded when you are out? - 1st in the AFL (Tom Rockliff's dog has a bigger following than most of the players, probably including Tom Rockliff. to the average person, AFL players here are just another group of twenty-somethings.)
- Hate everything you do and say being analysed and speculated on? - 1st in the AFL (No one will know or care because no one will notice you. Stand behind a Broncos reserve grade player and you will be doubly safe from unwanted attention. Stand behind a Broncos star player and you could be nude with a tea cosy on your wanger and you still wouldn't be noticed.)
- Get bored having to deal with fans after autographs everywhere you go? - 1st in the AFL (Even at player signings, you won't get RSI in the wrist.)
- Hate when opposition fans give you a hard time when you just want to be left alone? - 1st in the AFL (Opposition fans won't know or care about you because you play for the Lions. If you get interrupted eating a meal out it will be by a rare Lions fan saying hi.)

James Aish doesn't want to escape the football bubble. He wants to be in the football bubble. The prince wants to be in the royal court. I am sure he feels he has been banished to the provinces being in Brisbane.

James Aish is not a high profile footballer. Maybe in Adelaide, he would be given he is Aish royalty. But in Melbourne he would be barely known.

Everything you say may be right, Mick, but it is a little strange to hear that someone is planning to move to Melbourne to be away from the footy bubble.

I'm sure Aish hopes to have a long and successful career in footy, so of course he would be recognisable in Melbourne if things go to plan. And as you know, footy players in Melbourne find it impossible to escape attention. Especially Carlton and Collingwood players, so that is a really strange choice of club.

It's possible that it would be worse in Adelaide, but it doesn't seem likely that enjoying the culture away from footy is the main thing on his mind.
