treloar reminds me of wellingham/jamiroquai.. the ferrari version.. the 2 seem to teleport themselves from one position on the ground to the next.

i do recall a game agst north where a couple of our stars were out in 2011 and wellingham took over te reigns in the guts.. he add like 40 odd possessions.. i wonder had wellingham been given more resposibility who knows where that might have taken him.
Was against Melbourne, and that was one of the reasons the Eagles were willing to give us a first rounder for him. They thought giving him more responsibility would bring out his potential. Didn't work out, he spudded it out in the midfield and fought with trampolines, but he's had a ripping year playing as a running half back replacing Schofield who became a KPD. Was one of their best against the Hawks.

"The Tigers offered the Giants two first-round draft picks for Treloar and believed that Richmond was his club of preference. List manager Blair Hartley has remained in contact with the talented young midfielder while the issue was taken to the chief executive level when Brendon Gale contacted Dave Matthews to query the GWS rebuff." The AGE

If Richmond offered 2 first round picks and it was rebuffed by GWS. Surely that means we have already agreed a deal of our 2 first rounders or possibly a 1st pick + player.

I can't think of any other reason GWS would rebuff it.

Maybe because Treloar said I want to go to Collingwood and no where elsr

Once again, you don't offer picks or players until your trade target actually agrees he wants to come to your club.

Classic case of bitterness, 'if you can't stop them, at least make them earn it'

Based on what I've read during this year Treloar coming to us has most likely been agreed to in principle long time ago.

But GWS couldn't exactly announce it to the whole world hence pretended to entertain Tuggers' offers :)

Nah.
GWS wouldn't rebuff Richmond if it was the best offer. They'd say " Look the kid has requested to go to Collingwood but we'll keep speaking to him and see if we can change his mind"
Dont you think we tried to persuade Beams last year to look at Gold coast or even stay, and he was contracted

The players have all the power, especially with treloar being out of contract.

As he has nominated us, gws have to work with us.

Exactly.
It's unlikely that the club would be able to change his mind but as you just stated Collingwood would have tried their best with Beams, and so will GWS if they have a better offer from Richmond. So the fact that GWS rebuffed the Richmonds offer suggests to me we have already trumped it.

I think differently. I think Treloar has already said he wants to come to us, so gws say to richmond, unfortunately we cant trade with you, as the player does not want to go to you.

On a bit of a sidenote, i heard today that our first and second pick this year nearly equals richmond first this year and possible first next year in terms of points for academy players. Not sure how true this is.

It is true, someone posted the equation earlier ITT.

I know the trade period hasn't officially started, but surely given both teams aren't in finals, is there actually a reason that it can't be announced earlier than the trade period if a deal has been done?

Just curious.

I would say nothing will be announced until after all clubs have finished playing finals thus giving finalist a chance to concentrate on trade targets and possibly entering into the race for a player.

Atm Hawks are concentrating on winning a third flag and should they feel a midfielder of class like Treloar was a reason they failed, they may offer more money, better trades and end up securing him.

I'd say it's just to give these clubs a chance to finish their seasons that's all.

I believe the trade period is just that. All trades must be done in this period.

Illegal otherwise, although I am sure the clubs are already talking.

they can talk even agree, but cannot finalize or make a announce till trade period starts I believe.

If a father-son is worth a first round pick in the bidding process, and the club has already traded out that pick the year before, what happens? I guess you must miss out on the player, otherwise we would just trade out all their picks and get a couple of Daicoses and a Brown for picks 78, 95 and 104 ;)
The club can trade extra pick in if need be.

Richmond know they won't get him they are just trying to get us to pay overs

They making it sound like we did some Dodgy things to Secure Treloar.

Tigers trying to Save Face

Think it's against the Rules to Announce a Trade Pre-Trade Period. Espically with other teams still playing in the Finals

I thought one of the Daicos boys and a young Brown are eligible next year? We have a thread somewhere dedicated to it

If they are it might not be such a great idea to trade a future pick.

Losers usually sink to new lows when they are down and out

They just putting themselves in a very bad light.

Eddie would not sook like Gale has

Im not sure that they're currently rated as first round picks though, we may be safe with a couple of second rounders
