Unfortunately I disagree with Vital on hrovat. I believe the club is now very much willing to move him for the right deal.
Shhh you :P
He doesnt want to move

I'm not surprised. Hrovat is too much of the same unfortunately, it's worth putting him on the market to see what we can get.

Does jong have more currency than hrovat? Not interested in moving either of them on just curious to see other people's thoughts.

... And has spent all of 2015 uninjured and building form in the SANFL.

I wouldn't say there's a heap of enthusiasm about him. He's just a potential option for very little in return. If other targets don't work out he bolsters our ruck stocks and has considerable upside should he continue to get an injury free run.
Yeah fair enough Dannnnnnnnnn , i guess you can never have enough
depth. I can remember last year advising people to pick up Luke
Lowden hasn't really worked out as yet though.

It's tough to say. Hrovat is a much more composed player and has better skills but Jong has explosive pace, a great leap and is a great size.

I don't see him going then as I doubt we'll get a good deal. Plus he'd need to be coaxed out of the place.

Ask me again in 12 months.

Do you know if such a potential move was initiated by the player, or our club or the potential destination club?

Nothing to it
Hrovat is staying

Personally I hope like hell that Hrovat is at the club next year. He typifies the depth that we currently have at the club (in this position) as well as more than passing the character test. I'm also hopeful that Smith comes back (to best 22) from his injuries - but I'd have to admit after 3 ACL's a 'Menzel-like' fairytale seems distant at this point in time IMO...

On a more 'wouldn't it be interesting' scenario - has Lake burnt too many bridges at the club - that would impede him from returning for a year to fill a gap? Particularly if we picked up a Martin or Kruezer for the middle? Pure romanticism I know - but wouldn't it make a great story?

Regardless - there are fun times ahead.

I don't doubt Vital that Hrovat wants to stay. And I don't believe the club are going to push him out the door either. Just that they're very willing to move him for the right deal, which is a shift from our previous position.

I would hope the club are honest with him. If they have suggested where he is in the pecking order and if it is primarily as a back-up then I would imagine Hrovat might want to explore options.

We have plenty of Hrovat types at the club, so I wonder if there is some consideration in using his good value as a trade?
Maybe the club is thinking on possibility of getting Watts with the expectation that Luke Beveridge could turn his career around?

If I was Hrovat I'd be looking for other options. He is a fair way down the pecking order for midfield and small forward positions at our club. For example, Caleb Daniel has already shot straight past him. You could mount an argument that all of our first year debutants are ahead of Hrovat now.

As much as Watts has been a derided player, that is a deal I would do. Win for Melbourne, shit they want to give Melksham 4 years and Rat is a far better option than Melksham. Good for us as a project. If it fails we've only really lost a depth player. If it works, happy days.

Despite what MD thinks , he will be a very good AFL player. No doubt he has real currency and list wise we can afford to trade him. If we are to land anything worthwhile someone like a Hrovat must be a candidate for offer.
Would prefer Honeychurch be the one , I guess he is nowhere the value of Rat out in AFL land.

They might be small but they play they appear to play different team roles. I could be way off but this is how I see it.
Honey is a pressure mid, who chases and tackles, concentrating on the defensive side of things. Hrovat is a more ball focused mid.
You can really only see this when the ball is in dispute in congestion, Honey will first choice tackle and block, while Hrovat will try and get the ball.

I understand they are different. But regardless they can't all play together if you assume Daniel will go past them both.

Doubt it. Jong is still a risk long term , don't think Rat is.

I'd prefer to keep Hrovat. His decision making going into the 50 by foot is, IMO, very good. And that is something we don't have in spades.

I would too unless the deal is good. Stevens, Jong, Daniel etc all have the attributes that Bev likes, they can all play forward at a pinch.

But I think Hrovat is too one dimensional. I think its best we move him on for a really nice deal that can help us find a KPD or a nice pick. I'm guessing McCartney (wherever he may be in 3 or 4 weeks time) will make a serious play at him.

Watts sucks. Look at the finals on the weekend. Physically tough, mentally tough, highly competitive and composed players survive. Watts is none of those. Pass.
I have questions on Watts fragility also. But I ask you, which of the two is potentially a match winner? I think Watts has lots of potential, it's tapping the potential. Remember he has been at a very ordinary club from day 1.

Just got of the phone to a friend at the club who informed me Talia was asked if he gave information before the Adelaide game?? what the no wonder hes being talked about...and not Roberts looks like hes gonesky
