I had a plethora of posters say the same thing to me when we landed Liam Jones, bet I couldn't get one of them to say the same thing now.

Because we now know he was shit, as opposed to conjecturing it

You don't see the irony in that sentence? Liam has now been at the club for 12 months. We can judge how successful or not he's been with us based on that.

How do you judge how good someone will be with us before they've arrived here?

Lamb will come cheap and fills a hole in our current side (small forward).

I know I keep harping on about this but he will be a good get. Sick of seeing our supporter base write someone off before they've even arrived at the club  Especially when most haven't even seen him play...

I thought it had been reported that Lamb was overpaid by GWS when they secured him so how would he come cheap?

Hold on B&S, when we had just done the Jones trade, everyone here was in total raptures over it.

Most people weren't expecting it but I stated very quickly that he was a dud and we would all be regretting it, naturally I was howled down by a large percentage of the population.

Most Blues fans are very "open-eyed" when new players come to the club, there is a high degree of blind faith.

Guys I think you guys can get Treloar via a trade.

RFC will take pick 1 would love to get Weitering.

We can offer more picks to GWS than Pies relating to Treloar.

However for Treloar to go to CFC he will probably want more incentive which is why CFC is chasing other GWS players which is fair enough.

We might be able to help and offer something to CFC to possibly but will possibly need something from GWS to offset that but I think this is doable.

The main thing is getting CFC up in 4 years or so the likes of Treloar would want to come in the first place. A number of deals over a few years apart from draft picks will probably need to take place and maximising the 2016 draft for CFC would be critical which I am sure CFC are aware of.

I mentioned in a previous post we could lose Weitering to CFC in the future via FA because by then we will need to rebuild ourselves. I think Weitering is a CFC supporter to so that helps the argument to get Treloar to CFC because basically for Treloar you say it won't happen straight away but it will happen, the building blocks are in place and you can be part of the legacy getting CFC back up again apart from simply premiership success after a few years of hard work!
We would just take pick 1 and weitering. We will have enough points for academy kids through our other trades.

Perhaps Giants are willing to offset some of his salary to help him come. His manager's point about his contracted status not being a hurdle in a possible trade supports the fact that GWS are probably happy to let him go cheaply (in a trade).

Thank you for repeating your argument.

I didn't celebrate I withheld judgement and suggested it was more wise to do so to others.

I have now judged Liam, and found him wanting

This will be his third club at the age of 22. That says a lot about the player. We need to aim higher than players who can't secure a regular senior place in two different teams before they get to us.

Well for one, he won't be on anywhere near that salary with us. We also won't need to give GWS much compensation for him.

Okay, didn't know you withheld judgement at the time, you obviously weren't one of the plethora then.

Couldn't break into a Swans forward line that had stars all through it.

Kicked bags of 6, 7 and 8 goals in the NEAFL this season and wasn't given a chance in the seniors.

22 means he has plenty of time on his side.

I usually withhold judgement on all newcomers, both the hyped and un-hyped.

Sometimes it is harder then others, Liam made me uneasy, Tutt wasn't my favourite choice, Everitt made me nervous.

Conversely I had to try an contain my excitement over Judd.

There is one sticking point there Magic, we arenoing to be trading #1.

I am not having a go at you guys but IMO I think you guys need to think a little laterally to where you need to go.

What you guys really need is a plan IMO that works and is really achieveable and I am sure CFC is not unaware of this and not calculated there own plan. I am not trying to sell you anything but question me if you think I am off the mark.

ATM Carltons big strength is cap space. You have a few stars but you also have a lot of cap space which can be increased when others leave and retire. This will not be there later when you guys are up and about with a great list charging in finals. So all I am suggesting is CFC can maximise the cap space advantage by chasing the likes of Treloar now with bigger deals. One way of building lists is just draft draft draft but I think from where the CFC list is at, reflected by players some are looking to offload CFC can actually afford to let a pick 1 go now and still get the development upside it needs in the immediate years ahead even with the likes of Treloar and others coming in because others will be departing and retiring. So getting Treloar now typically would be a dumb move now however in CFC situation it actually wouldn't be so because the list development would not be compromised. For example getting Treloar now would be like us in 2004 getting Deledio and where still had plenty of room to develop our list which was not compromised and we still had plenty of opportunity to recruit great talent like Dusty down the track.

However, to chase Treloar and others you need collateral. In CFC's case it might be smarter to trade away pick 1 because Treloar is virtually a pick 1 anyway and you can get Weitering back via FA anyway which is when you team list should be arguably very strong.

The other thing is getting Treloar and other GWS players while losing others to retirement and what not means you still will be developing for a while anyway and get the draft advantage from 2016 and other years so your list is looking very healthy regardless and should prove just as strong as you gain further advantage from those development years in the next 3-4 years IMO

If he was wasn't given a chance in the seniors at GWS it means he wasn't rated even after they went out and chased him when at Sydney.

Cannot see it happening, but as we have a history of three for ones.

Would GWS do Treloar, Plowman and Tomlinson for #1 (Weitering) in your opinion?

Upgrade in quality for GWS, 3 upgrades to best 22 for CFC.

If Lamb is seriously looking to play AFL, maybe it would be a new two year contract on lower $ to prove himself at CFC.

He was average at Footscray, what would make you think he'd be any different with us?
