Sinclair had a medical for the Sydney Swans in the past few days ....get ready to lose a ruckman .

Dont think Sinclair will be as good for Swans as he was this season at West Coast , suited at West Coast ..

Are we doing this to Sinkers?

Look forward to Nic jumping on his head. Good second string ruckman, but will be shown up as a first string surely.

Really hope we're getting their Pick 14 involved in the deal somehow.

I think it would be more likely a swap of second rounders or something

That won't assist in players transferring clubs, which is the whole point of free agency. In free agency the players are supposed to be free to move to where they want to. If you need the club trading them in to lose a pick, then few clubs would bring in free agents and the whole system would be pointless. I can't think of any league in the world where clubs lose draft picks for bringing in free agents (except where they lose compensation picks they got from losing a free agent, which we already have in place).

And also in almost every other league in the world that does have free agency... Teams are able to trade players without their consent unless the player has a specific 'No Trade' clause in their contract.

Get rid of the compensation picks and allow clubs to trade players without their consent I reckon.

What about a three-way trade with Hawthorn:

WCE lose Sinclair, 36
WCE get Jetta, Anderson

Swans lose Jetta, 14, 33
Swans get Sinclair, 18, 36

Hawks get 14, 33
Hawks lose 18, Anderson

In other words:

WCE get Jetta + Anderson for Sinclair and 36
Swans trade in Sinclair at the cost of Jetta + a 4 spot downgrade of their 1st and 2nd picks
Hawks trade Anderson for 33 + a 4 spot upgrade of their 1st.

This seems like a pretty reasonable deal with no obvious losers to me. Should tweet it to Vosso to give him some inspiration ;)

If the rumours of $1.5mil over 4 years for Sinclair are true, you seriously could not blame him for leaving.

It's gonna be awkward when it becomes evident he's not a number 1 ruck.

If we have the ability to throw McGovern forward why would we?
We do but I'd like to keep McGovern as a true swing man.
The combined marking ability of Kennedy, Casboult and McGovern will frighten the shit out of most teams.
Besides, it'd be great just to piss Freo off.

Agree with doing away with compensation picks but completely disagree with allowing trades without player consent.
So many reasons why that's a terrible idea, logistically and ethically.

I haven't criticised Lycett's game or his goal-scoring potential, but I still think he's got to work back and perform well to take Sinclair's spot, as the latter is providing excellent flexibility around the ground. I realise that I have an unpopular opinion, but I think we're being too brash throwing Sinclair out as though he's easily replaced. I think he has more to give.
I'm not saying we just throw him out with the trash, I'm only advocating for trading Sinclair if we get something back that significantly improves the team.

Tippett is a a number 1 ruck, thats why they pay him the big bucks. Sinclair is a forward, pretty sure Sydney aren't going to force him to ruck all day and get beaten when Tippett moved into the ruck late in the year and in finals and played his best footy since being traded.

Don't agree with you Lycett is a better player but I asked for your opinion and you told me.
Not many clubs seem interested in Lycett either as only inquiries are for Sinclair.
Which ever one we have has to handle being a second string ruckman to NN, on the flipside they have to do the things that NN does not do like take marks, and compete around the ground. Sinclair did that very well this year.
Ruck taps can be overstated sometimes, we dominated in this area and for the most part got silver service from NN, but we also have quite a few days we got beaten in clearences. That is NN fault as much as Sinclairs not to mention the midfielders.
Anyway it looks as though Sinclair is the one as no clubs are interested in Lycett, be a shame to lose a guy who as improved so much this year and is just entering the peak of his career.
Yeh, that's fair enough, the whole forum is just basically everyone's opinion, that's what makes it so interesting.
I think if we are going to trade Sinclair we should do it now, because as you say he has the most value. I think he's got the most value because he obviously played more than Lycett this year, but I think at the same time this has caused him to be overvalued around the league. I think when fit, if you throw Lycett in to replace Sinclair you at worst break even, and being the younger player Lycett should only get better. I think Sinclair has reached his peak, both in playing ability and in value to other teams and we should utilise this value to improve an area which imo still needs improving, our midfield. But then again I've been saying the same for nearly a month, people are probably tired of hearing it.

Its hard to judge if people were interested in Lycett. For all we know teams could of asked and WC just said he will not be traded. On the other hand when asked about Sinclair we left options open.

With how high we rate Lycett plus the long term contact teams may have thought he would be too hard to shift.

Terry can be added to the list of West coast BF media people who know nothing about football.
The list is pretty good.
Wayne Carey, Brian Taylor, Robert Walls, leigh matthews, Brad Hardie, Kim Hagdorn, Cameron Ling,, Mark Robinson, Mike Sheehan, Carolyn Wilson, gary Lyon, Damien Barrett etc etc

I think Dennis Cometti is allowed but only if he says nice things, if not then he knows stuff all about footy also. lol
To be fair Wayne Carey sometimes says something vaguely intelligent
