Try manipulating the Dees 3rd pick - maybe they rate him? Who they take might depend on who they think well be available with their second pick.
They may try to pull a trick like that.

Seems a bit amateurish.

I'm taking about power rankings, not where they actually get drafted. The top KPFs that got drafted early would have been high up on clubs power rankings, whereas I suspect Weiderman is down the rankings a bit but has a high draft position simply by virtue of being one of the best of a bad lot.

This is another good point, do we need a KPF in the top 5 of all draftees with Daniher in the forward line? Unless we decide that Daniher is C or B grade, we should be able to get by with McKernan, a VFL KPF or a DFA. What we need is depth, and you don't select depth with picks in the top 5.

The more I think about it, the more I think that drafting Wiederman at 4 or 5 seems like a terrible waste of an amazing draft position.

Personally I'd expected Daniher to have shown more to date. This year he needs to be kicking 40-45 goals at a minimum. I can see another forward working in with Joey. It may free him up some which may enable him to better those targets.

Dodoro, hepp and woosha are saying we will take the best talent available at 4/5 rather than needs. Could that be a trick to Melb in saying that they may be actually be picking needs rather than talent? Eg. We may pick weid/curnow instead because melb may think we we actually want Francis. That was just an example, sorry if it was hard to follow.

But would the order of Talent be: 1. Francis 2. Oliver 3. Parish 4. Weideman 5. Curnow ?

Just a little aside; these are the guys out of contract at the end of 2016.

link Ambrose, Patrick - 2016
link Ashby, Jason - 2016
link Cooney, Adam - 2016
link Dempsey, Courtenay - 2016
link Edwards , Shaun - 2016
link Gleeson, Martin - 2016
link Goddard, Brendon - 2016
link Gwilt, James- 2016
link Hocking, Heath - 2016
link Hooker, Cale - 2016
link Howlett, Ben - 2016
link Kommer, Nicholas - 2016
link Langford, Kyle - 2016
link Laverde, Jayden - 2016
link McKernan, Shaun - 2016
link Myers, David - 2016
link Pears, Tayte - 2016
link Stanton, Brent - 2016 vet
link Watson, Jobe - 2016 vet

That is an absolute truck load of guys out of contract (19) not including the (4) rookie listed guys.
4 of them are priorities in Hooker, Myers, Langford and Laverde. To a lesser extent, Gleeson and Edwards. The others aren't that important on our way to a premiership tilt imo.

If we don't bet a readymade forward like Brown, what the hell are we going to do? Joey needs help.

Got laughed at big time but still wouldn't have minded getting Pods for a year in a playing/coach role.

Gwilt ahead of Pears, Dempsey, Kommer and even Ambrose?

Right now, yes. I just don't think Gwilt has a great deal of upside while those others might show something between now and October next year. I fully expect at least 4-5 of those players to have shown little enough to justify delisting by this time next year, but I'm not game to say which ones this early on.

Personally I'd expected Daniher to have shown more to date. This year he needs to be kicking 40-45 goals at a minimum. I can see another forward working in with Joey. It may free him up some which may enable him to better those targets.

He'll take time. Despite the people here talking about him dominating from the get go he was always going to take time. Yes, another forward would work well with JD but no 18yo we draft this year is going to be of much use to him as a partner in season 2016.

Only one KPF can mark the ball at a time so I don't think it is a problem if JD's eventual partner isn't a star unless JD shows he won't be much chop.

He's only a band-aid solution as a third tall imo. I hope he becomes a depth player/vfl leader sooner rather than later though.

The way it came out was he should be gone at years end. If he produces another solid year like '15, I don't see why he wouldn't be offered another year

Gwilt was fairly average for mine and will further decline next year. He is pretty slow and unable to play on genuine KFs and even got cut up by Gunston as a 3rd fwd. if we are to progress we need a younger quicker player doing the same role by end of 2016. I'd hope this might be Francis.

EQ's draft rankings have just been put online, interested to see Rioli is in her top 30. Milera is quite high up too, so there might be some truth to the rumours that we are keen on him.

The McKay brothers are goofy looking mother****ers.

Emma has formatted the article in ways that make copy and pasting impossible.

Her top 30 are:

Hopper
Weitering
Mills
Schache
Kennedy
Hipwood
Francis
Weideman
Milera
Oliver
Parish
Curnow
McKay
Ah Chee
Burton
Balic
Collins
McKay
Bonner
Mathieson
Keays
Rioli
Gresham
Hibberd
Dunkley
Tucker
Cole
Clarke
Himmelberg
Partington

Edit: she's bloody good at this is Emma, I struggle to find fault with any of that.

Looks like we're still a chance to hit gold at even if 24/25 become 29/30, The next half a dozen aren't too far behind at all
