One minute he doesn't get the footy. The next he butchers it badly. You'd think he'd struggle to get a game at a struggling side with that skill set yet has managed 16-22 games a season at a pretty decent Adelaide outfit 5 years running

You do realise the gulf in class/depth of our Adelaide's list to ours right? If a bloke is a role player and not a star at a club like that for 5 years he is definitely worthy of a spot on our young list. Especially when he comes in for nothing. It's all well and good us going to the draft to rebuild the list but quite a lot of 18 year olds aren't ready to go round 1 so we definitely need guys that are 22-25 and have proven to be at least capable at AFL level. 94 games in 5 years at a good club is surely proof he has what it takes. I'm not saying we're about to get the next Bernie Vince here but I do think that he is a guy that we can get 40-50 games out of over the next 3 years while the guys we draft this season & guys like Viojo-Rainbow get ready for senior AFL football

Your thoughts are flawed. You picked up a player that wasn't top 5 at Carlton last season and yet you found a good use for him.

He's just another mature bodied midfielder to help in our rebuild. No one is suggesting he'll be a star but he'll help the kids somewhat over the next couple of years. If his DE is so shit, we can play him as a half forward where that doesn't hurt us as badly.

Waite was 30 and wanted a 3 year contract from us after he'd barely done anything for 10 years. The stupid thing to do would have been to give it to him.

Betts should have stayed. That was definitely a mistake (although he never showed his current form with us). Garlett had several off field issues that we weren't prepared to wear anymore.

Also from Judd's book "there were too many players not willing to doe everything they could to win a premiership on the list which were finally cleared out"
