What kind of errors are you seeing? Cause I must be missing them completely.

I just watched his draft machine video again and literally didn't see a single mistake.

- 5 seconds, drop mark and an easy one
- 30 seconds, handballs to no one
- 2:26 just kicks to open space - get caught doing that in the AFL and your history.
- 4:32 drops a mark, was good to get the second effort going though but keep in mind its against 18 year olds.
- 4:55 runs into an open goal probably 25 metres out and misses. Imagine that in a crucial game
- 5:50 drops a sitter off his chest
- 8:17 was very soft and honestly would be disgusted if this happened in a real game. reminds me a lot of Oakley-nicholls
- 8:31 drops the ball, was way too slow, especially for someone who is labelled as quick. (doesn't look flashy)
- 8:46 even though he got the free kick I think he was very lucky and most of the time will be holding the ball.
- 9:12 Handball cut off, poor awareness
- 9:18 doesn't get the kick away. will give him this one though because he's still young but in the AFL will be demolished
- 9:54 turns the ball over
- 10:04 hospital handball causing the turnover
- 10:44 kicks the ball out on the full, a pretty bad one
- 10:55 handballs to someones feet
- 11:28 kicks across back to goal and a poor one that his team mate couldn't even get the ball. This doesn't seem that bad in an under18's type match but if it ever happened in the AFL he would be dropped and probably for a while considering i've seen a lot of other bad traits.
- 12:29 he's 25 metres out DIRECTLY in front and missed. Just not good enough especially for a forward.
- 12:50 verrrrry casual kick putting his team mate under extreme pressure.

pretty much everything else he does is a standard uncontested mark and kick..that would seem right for a 2nd or 3rd rounder. I'm not against you, I'm just stating the facts. I've had a good record with predicting who will become good out of the draft. Not once in his highlight reel he showed his 'elite' speed and weave through traffic. I don't think he's that kind of player and if he's NOT, he simply shouldn't be a pick 12, I'm sorry. I dont see anything flashy like a Wingard/Cyril/Burgoyne's/Garlett. Maybe he gets away from players and has runs, but I would find it odd that is wasn't in his 'Highlight' reel.

Who knows..maybe in a few years like 4-6 he will become a valuable asset. it might be too late for us then. I will support him just like I did with Conca, but hoping we really make the right decision on this.
Go tigers!

Dont see us going with Burton, more likely Archie Ah Chee. And if we are a bit reluctant on him, would much prefer Collins over someone like Gresham. Actually think Gresham is the biggest risk of all the players being in the mix for Richmond.

Based on what? He has probably has the most consistent year of nearly anyone..

Yeah, thats nice. But David Rodan had a consistent year before he was drafted too. In fact, Rodan had TWO consistent years in a row winning the Morrish 2 years in a row if memory serves me correct.

Ergo its about how well they will translate into the AFL.

You do realise that every AFL player makes errors? You could go through the footage of every draftee and pick out less than perfect bits of play. The video there looks to be footage from only two seperate games. Have you seen footage of his other football? Any of his South Fremantle footage?

Apparantly there he has shown great speed and footskills, and the recruiters would know this.

Would I be correct in saying if Gresham was 183cm instead of 177cm he would go top 5? Vic Metro MVP, dominated TAC Cup, good skills and kicks goals?

Don't mind him to be honest.....

No chance he would go top five.

I like Mennen, he's a neat player. I'd prefer the bloke who played on the opposite HBF at the Champs though - Kurt Mutimer. If he gets through to our second pick we've got a bargain.

Gresham is a little beauty. I have no doubt he'll make it.

Mennen makes too many bonehead plays for him to go any higher than a rookie pick. Just simple errors that you shouldn't be making in your draft year, let alone as a over-ager.

I hope we are considering the McKay twins.

Harry will be gone, agree that Ben should be looked at. Most intriguing key position draft prospect in this years draft.

I really want Gresham. He'll be a little gun. If it's a choice between him and Ah Chee, it's a close one, because I love Ah Chee's skill set and attitude. But there's some risk of him becoming a type who only impacts when things are going his way. Gresham is as consistent a footballer as they come - he basically carried his TAC team this year. There's virtually no risk of him not showing up for a match, ever.

He's a better ground ball player than Ah Chee which is something we need more than aerial specialists IMO. We have Lennon, Deledio, Riewoldt, Vickery and so on up forward who can all clunk a grab, but only really Martin who's dangerous at ground level. Gresham will add another dimension, plus the ability to rack up a shedload of possessions and get the ball moving in our direction from the coal face. Ah Chee doesn't, and won't ever have that ability IMO.

Gresham is a more complete footballer. Plus he's a Knight, we love those. I'm sure we'll be all over him if available.

Ah Chee is dangerous at ground level, probably more so than Gresham. Its his ability to get involved more often that has held him back this year.

According to Emma Quayle on Facebook we have given up on Oliver now, as he seems destined to go top 10. We have instead focused on Ah Chee, Burton, Milera and Rioli.

I personally have heard we are firming at Collins for our first.

If we go anywhere near Riloi I will ****ing spew.

Based on what? He has probably has the most consistent year of nearly anyone..

Consistency means little for draftees, its the ability for their game to translate to AFL level that will ultimately decide how good of a prospect they're.

Yes i'm aware everyone makes errors. I also explained it will take him at least 4-5 years most likely to become a regular for us.
where is that footage? would Love to see it

As a midfielder/flanker, it wouldn't take 4-5 years to become a regular. What is that based on?

He's simply responding to another poster who questioned him about the errors that he saw in the highlights video.
Still lol at people who see a package of some kids game then instantly dismiss them from that

It's not a highlight video though. It's every possession from his televised games in the U18 championships. If you judged every player by what they did in the championships Oliver, Burton and Weideman would be drafted because they didn't play!

I understand what you're saying..but his highlights video is exactly the same

straight into the best backline in the comp? dont think so....
we have already Yarran to be opposite flank to Houli with Chaplain
we have Rance Grimes and Vlastuin
unless he takes Chaplain spot straight away it's very unlikely he will play unless an injury
we also have Elton, Astbury Griffiths who can play tall and Batchelor, Hunt, Drummond, Conca looking in
we really lack a ruck but can't get one
we lack a small fwd but Edwards will cover
we lack more class in the midfield which we just need to draft
He could easily play 8-12 games if managed properly that being rotated with elton and Astbury. He's a mobile and a big strong boy.
The Chaplin project needs updating and upgrading as he has been
our poorest tall in finals . He's cost us 5 goals in 2013 , three by quarter time v port before I turned from pro to go home and I counted three v North. For a leader he really has been a bleeder of goals especially when games are in the balance where it's crucial to remain composed under the pump. As much as me not being a fan of Todd or Dave both combined with Collins gives us more hope
Chaplin on Nahas while Waite was towering over Batchelor ,any true leader would have put their hand up to make the move and take him on

He is extremely light. Gets knocked around quite a bit from what i've seen.

And look at our list, can't see him breaking in ahead of anyone yet. Needs time to develop
I imagine he'd be like most of our recent draftees, he'd develop in the twos for a season or two then look to make a bit of an impact in his second or third year. Generally speaking, I'd expect our first rounder whoever it is to atleast make a debut next year, injury permitting.

Watch this space then I suppose.

Yep. And just to be clear, I'd have no problem with us drafting him, just think he carries a bit more risk than maybe some others that are in the mix. Could end up being a superstar for all anyone knows.

I didn't have an issue with Chappy until he tried to take on Nahas only to look like an absolute twat, I would be all for drafting Collins as I don't have much faith in Astbury playing more than 5 games and Elton is still a complete unknown

I partially agree with Dave and Todd as I'm not sold , but Chaplin is not the true leader when the real battle is on. He should have taken Waite or even suggested it to a runner xxxx tell DH that batch is being monstered in size .wtf are we doing about it?
Instead games go on for too long and the damage is done
I don't think we would miss him

I'd still have him second to Rance but he does need to be phased out starting this next season
