If she was genuinely afraid of retribution from Dusty's dad, sending it to the media is even worse, considering she does know how the media beat things up.

Again, she lives and breathes the media and this type of news (she works on the Sunday night show)her whole life revolves around thinking the forth estate aid some great power

For you and me, they are flogs who we wouldn't even consider in her position

Likewise I wouldn't think of calling the cops in her spot, because I grew up in a culture where you didn't get cops involved if possible

People react differently based upon their position and life experiences

She works for Sunday Night? Can't wait for the exclusive interview with the horror movie music in the back ground.

Also someone has suggested that the lady doesn't want Dusty missing any games, just to get help with the booze, apparently in today's HUN, if someone who has the HUN confirm or deny this.

Be interesting to see how much weight that request holds

With the afl involved, it will be interesting

They asked Cotch if the players will have a say in sanction, his answer was "um..... I think so"

Reckon we will just do what the afl tell us now

Don't disagree, but he also gets it on his record, which will have consequences in later life

First offence will not go on his record, the prosecutor will look at his clean criminal history, and refer him for the Diversion program, he pleads guilty to the charge, it doesn't go on his record and pays a 500$ donation.

Yeah but our discussion was based on her( a reported) fear of a retaliation. My point was it is a funny way to do that.

Has Dane Swan had anything to say about all this?.... I mean, who handed Dusty the chop sticks... there's no way Dusty would know how to use chop sticks.

You're forgetting this has profile, people often lose their willingness to be lenient when they are on tv and 3aw in the lead up

Fwiw I don't think this will get there, I do find it concerning though the afl still had it on the table as of this morning

And that's what I'm addressing

When scared you go to where you feel safe. For a media person big shock it's the media

Or maybe the police weren't involved because the situation didn't require them to be there.

like there was when he was out of contract?

we all know how good a footy player he is, but he's too much of a high risk player with his alcoholism and temperament issues.

I genuinely hope he can put these issues to bed, I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

Oh for FFS, now he's an alcoholic. Do you think before you post?

No, they weren't involved because she didn't call them

For the person who people her have abused since day one, she hasn't called the cops in AND she's asking for him to lose no games

For someone who is a lying bitch apparently she's doing her best to minimize the impact upon martin

He should be thanking her because I know I wouldn't be that generous

The only reason this has legs is because of the media.

Yep, both the club and AFL have to show that they aren't sitting on there hands doing nothing about the situation, at the end of the day police involvement is very unlikely and even if they do get involved it wont go anywhere.

No shit, if this wasn't high profile and attracting the media is completely agree

This is Melbourne, this is an afl player, this was never gunna be low profile

No, they weren't involved because she didn't call them

Why not though? a 187CM 93KG Male covered in tatts just threatened your very life, seems odd doesn't it?

For the person who people her have abused since day one, she hasn't called the cops in AND she's asking for him to lose no games

Which again, brings questions, if she doesn't want anything to come of it, why not just say nothing at all to Dustin to begin with, and even after she did, she contacted the club (fair enough) but she then also takes it to the media, why make a big thing about something she wants nothing to come of from?

For someone who is a lying bitch apparently she's doing her best to minimize the impact upon martin

Never called her that at any point, simply pointing out the holes in her story and how it simply does not add up.

And once again, someone just threatened your very existence, and yet you want nothing to come about of it? Even though since the event happened it's been plastered all over the news?

He should be thanking her because I know I wouldn't be that generous

Then again you probably don't work for the media, the one thing that can ruin any persons career/life by plastering your name and face all over the front page of news bulletins and papers.

Never expected it to be anything but front page news, but her story, and the events that followed up after the incident, just don't sit well with me.

Wife used to be a journo, so i know a bit about them from her

On the rest, it's all her call

Whether she calls the cops or not is her call, not yours to demand approval on

I personally was involved in a serious assault in my youth, and after the visit from the cops it went no further. Reason why, despite seriously hurting the other party, they didn't press charges. I have no idea if it was my good record, they pitied me, they thought the punishment would be excessive, or it would be inadequate. Point is they made a call to give me a break for reasons that were their own

Why isn't it the same for this woman? As bad as the incident was, she doesn't want to destroy his career

He did it, she did the right thing and contacted the club as she clearly felt that police involvement was not warranted - he apologised, she accepted - is that a fair summation?

It then gets released to the media - he threatened to kill her, menaced her, she feared for her life. No police involvement. This sentence is what I don't get. If the apology wasn't enough at the time, why did she accept it? What changed between her accepting the apology and going public? If it was that bad and I am not suggesting it wasn't, it does warrant police involvement

It can't be both. It was either enough to get the police involved or it wasn't. If it wasn't its the biggest beat up I have ever seen, if it was, WTF are the cops doing not getting involved. By all media reports, they should be

Not Caro is it? :p:D

I'm not saying it needs approval by me or anyone else, and yes you are correct, it is her call, but it is very very odd that she didn't get the authorities involved. I know I would if someone was threatening my life.

I personally was involved in a serious assault in my youth, and after the visit from the cops it went no further. Reason why, despite seriously hurting the other party, they didn't press charges. To be blatantly blunt, they probably didn't care, all the time, effort, money, resources and manpower involved the police really just don't care, unless of course they have all the evidence right there in front of them so they don't have to do much legwork.

Why isn't it the same for this woman? As bad as the incident was, she doesn't want to destroy his career

I can tell you first hand that Woman get well looked after by the authorities and courts system.

Quick story, my own cousin who I no longer speak to, claimed I made death threats towards her, even though A: I was never there and B: I never said anything of the sort to her, she called police, I was arrested, gave a no comment interview (as all people should do when being interviewed even if innocent) she took an intervention order out against me, it went to court, prosecutor recommended me for the Diversion program, and that was that.

And once again, I ask, a clear intoxicated (possibly high) man is standing in front of you, you've made it clear in your interviews since after that you feared for your life, yet, at the time, you made no effort to either A: Remove yourself from the situation and B: call the authorities.

My theory, she doesn't want anything more to come of it because outside of the media the story has no leg to stand on in the courts system.
