Sounded a bit too much like a politician for my liking. Was he reading off a teleprompter, seemed like it.

I dont think anyone is saying that the club isnt trying, no one wants to be bad and be under constant scrutiny.

I think something happened at the end of 2009 for Mick to change his usual recruiting policy and go after both Jolly and Ball.

I really can't think of the previous really top level recruit we chased after prior to that. (bar Judd). I am very much in the camp that the time limit on his coaching career is what made Mick finally pull that trigger.

Do you really believe that's why Mick was let go? The line from Ed about his old age and poor health is rubbish. Not too many coaches give their farewell speeches to their players in a grand final dressing room.

You really need to let go. Mick left the building 5 years ago ..... Seriously what does it add to a debate on whether Bucks is the right coach to take us forward.

I view Malthouse very similar to Arsene Wenger.
He is all about having "his boys". He has complete trust in the young men under his command, and complete faith that they will achieve... almost to the point of narcissism. (It wasn't "the boys" or "our boys", it was "MY boys") When bringing in new players, he didn't try to spend big with ready made stars, but guys that were going to fit his design, or that he could mould.

We had been on that path for 9 years. Although it had generally been a successful period, it was also one where, at that point, no-one thought the group had it in them to get over that final hurdle and match the teams above us. And that time Malthouse was basically told - that's it, you have 2 more years. There's no more trying to play the long game - you have to push for a flag right now... I have seen/heard nothing to doubt that that was the reason we went after Jolly and Ball, finally fixes two massive holes we had had for years, and Mick had up until then been trying to fix, unsuccessfully, with "his boys".

U didnt think that after we got jolly, it was ours for the taking. I certainly did, it was the only missing puzzle. Didnt need Luke Ball, even tho i appreciate what he done for us. All we needed was a big bodied talented ruckman.
As i said before, its ok wanting one, its what u hav to giv up to get what u want. The planets aligned for us re Jolly

I have absolutely no doubt Bucks is hurting as much as we do if not more but putting the players into the same category is just cringe-worthy.

The same applies to the effort.

There's a chance 12 gets you in, but you'll need a % of 105-110 to be safe. In order for Collingwood to bring ours back to that level we need to approximately double our average losing margin from here. Given our current form, the grinding that will take place for us to get even with the ledger we'll need 13 to be assured of making it.

I'm not going to buy into whether we can do it, but for anyone who thinks we can get there from here 12-7 is where it's at...

I'm not going to buy into whether we can do it, but for anyone who thinks we can get there from here 12-7 is where it's at...

Probably right. But I rather have that we finish the season strongly then going up again to 8-3 and then deflate. There is of course the chance that it is stays predominantly crap with here and there a spark but we see about that in months to come.
If you asked anyone in the preseason about our chances without Swan , Scharenberg, Ramsay & Elliott, not many would have said finals. So I can live with that result, not with the current way we play.
There will be some melts if this top 9 stays the same way. Fremantle and Richmond are massive outs. This year was the last chance saloon for them. We won't be the only club looking for a new coach.

Thought it was a very brave thing to do, opened himself up, acknowledges not a good start.
Could have come on and deflected, said little.
Thought it was very raw commentary, I had no problem with it.
