When did Heppel sign? My birdy tells me he is forgone conclusion to be at Hawks....
It's not on their website.

Not sure I could stomach him at HFC, rolling out that "We still don't know what we were injected with" or "we were duped" bulls**t.

Admit it, then we can all move on... And maybe just cheer him if he runs out in the Brown & Gold.

Not really sure about the injectors, hope they stay away from this club.

Heppell already had a 5 year deal he signed with the bombers at the start of 2015. Channel 7 or whoever it was simply insinuated he was set to return to the club etc.

Surely these contracts are just Essendon sorting out the legal actions by saying "don't sue the club and we'll give you a good, long contract".
Kill two birds with one stone: get rid of the legal action and sign all the better players.

Job done.

That makes some sense- however, in the case of heppell, his signature came pre- CAS decision. As we know- his story has progressed to the point where less than a month ago, he was set to sue the bombers for a cool mil. 'IF' that is supposedly no longer the case... what changed?

It was David Myers who re-signed today. They mentioned something about him being the fourth player to do so from those who have been suspended.

Are the contracts invalid during the period of the suspension?

Maybe he's got an extra year or two after suspension.

I don't know if a suspension makes contracts null and void etc. I don't believe so. I don't think they do outright, and the bombers did make a committment to pay the players while suspended- but having just had a look again- this to an amount to be negotiated by the aflpa. Contracts have mutliple payment structures, including match day payments for seniors/reserves etc- so that makes some sense. It would make sense then that players expecting to earn a large amount would be susbtantially short on their wages, which may go some way to explain the thought to sue to regain lost wages. Although- i think part of heppells grievance had something to do with his own 3rd party deals which he lost or could not commit to, can't quite remember.

Imagine if they did give him extra years though! It is an enormous list management risk. I think we can safely say that something doesn't smell right.

Let's not forget we are talking about * :syringe: :pill: :seenoevil: :hearnoevil: here. There's always a stench.

Tim Watson is the 1 who created the Heppel talk.
He says he 'believes' Heppel will stay.
He also thinks Jobe will play on 'although he hasn't talked to him about it'
This to me says, 'I'm full of sh1t & making it up'. As if he hasn't spoken to his son about whether he will play on next yr.
fair shake of the sauce bottle Tim !!

As for Heppel, he is contracted so doesn't have to re-sign to stay at Bumbers, but he is entitled to walk away from the contract if he prefers.

Sounds like Jobe might play on somewhere else.

Isn't Clarko still close with the Watsons?

Imagine that.
:drunk:
My imagination only stretches as far as witnessing Jobe personally handing over the 2012 Brownlow to Mitch and then p*ssing off to shamed obscurity.

Time for some reality...

The biggest myth in the entire doping saga, is that players and officials had their head in the sand and didn't know what was going on.

They all knew.

They all knew why Dank was there.

They all knew what his job was.

They all knew why the players were getting jabs offsite.

They all knew why they were recieving scripts from Doctors other than Reid for their injections.

They all knew why they were not to declare the injections to ASADA.

They all thought that the EFC had employed a 'guru' who knew his way around the code.

They all thought they had found a loophole, and had gotten one up on the rest of the comp.

Two things continue to shit me about how the media speak about this saga....

1. It's not a "supplements scandal" it's Doping. Pure and simple.
2. There's no possible way that an AFL club in 2012, would employ a man to oversee a regime of involved and specific injections without numerous people being involved and monitoring the outcome.

How else would they have been able to quantify the program as a success two months into the season ...if no one involved knew what it actually was that anyone was getting.

Anyone who has set foot in Waverley can see the numerous whiteboards which record weight sessions, sprint times, vertical jump heights...the list goes on and on, and the fitness and conditioning staff take it to a whole other level, monitoring sleep, time on the ground, time sprinting, time jogging.... It goes on and on as well.
Does anyone truly believe that clubs record skinfolds, running patterns, time on the ground etc, but don't record what injections each players has received?

The AFLPA's complete reluctance to challenge the statement from the AFL tribunal that "the players will never know what they were injected with" said enough. No Union in the world sits idle when its members are treated in such a way....unless that union knows more, and recognises that it's members are best served by buttoning their lips.

As I say above, the idea that the Essendon players and those in the football department had no idea what Dank was doing is completely and utterly ridiculous. It's a fantasy.

The texts to Hird about players injections, who was in the program and what drugs would be administered next prove this.

And it's why not one of those involved, nor the players union have squeezed Dank for info.

What's the go with the Jobe cheater's brownlow? Have I missed the action or hasnt there been any? If not, why not?

Probably waiting for the final appeal to be concluded.

At least, that's the only excuse they have left!

Pathetic from Gil that he won't get involved in the decision of whether Jobe keeps his medal. Are they going to send the mail room kid to pick it up

Let me guess...in your little fantasy no one knew what Dank was doing, the players just all coincidentally forgot to declare the "good Thymosin" to ASADA over a period of months and a convicted drug trafficker with a penchant for PED use just happened to find his way into the supply chain.

The earth is flat, Elvis lives, we've never been to the moon and Holt swam to Russia.

Save your dumb-assery for the Essendon board where you'll be applauded for never doubting Jamestown.

You must be aware how pathetic posts like the one I trolled come across, you must be. You believe all the players & staff involved, those still at the club, those long gone, those that now despise the place because of what happened, you believe that all those people colluded to participate in an illegal peds scheme & yet not one has broken ranks, put his hand up, for any number of extremely plausible reasons, & said 'yep, we all cheated'.

I'll leave you to it...

I'll just leave this here.

"Essendon's 2012 supplements program involved a ploy to circumvent anti-doping rules banning substances not approved for human use by "doctor shopping" in an attempt to get prescriptions to obtain drugs from a compounding pharmacist.

A small number of Essendon officials last year believed that having drugs prescribed by a doctor and then supplied by a compounding pharmacist meant the World Anti-Doping Agency's ban on substances not approved for human use no longer applied.

Basic internet checks reveal this belief to be unfounded, with the US Anti-Doping Agency's webpage warning athletes not to source drugs from compounding pharmacists, even when they have a therapeutic-use exemption to use a banned product. To use a substance banned by WADA, an athlete requires a therapeutic-use exemption from their national anti-doping authority.

What Dank set up was an orchestrated attempt to get around the code and the players and Hird knew they were not to declare the injections to ASADA as a result because they thought they were ahead of the game.

The problem being Dank screwed up, and then set about covering his tracks.

Their reluctance to question the regime means that the players are now seen to be dopers.

Too bad, so sad.

I'm confused, did I walk onto the Essendon board by mistake?

Ha ha, innocent Essendon.

But now you've been found guilty.

GUILTY!
