Its the fact that he is continuously the only one who has his named dragged through the mud for doing it. Does McLean cop the same amount of criticism?, Selwood?, Puopolo?, Shuey? the list goes on and on but only one player continues to cop the heat for it and thats where our problem with it is.

Id love for it to be stamped out, i dont like him or any of our players doing it but have a major problem that he is the only one called out for it. Like Carey said, Selwood gets applauded for the way he continuously wins head high free kicks.

Some random nobody *essendon supporter (i.e. you) has graciously popped by to inform us that while various players duck, it's only Lindsay that he will remember for doing so.

You can see that you have just shown the issue we have? Many players do it, only one gets this treatment and will only be remembered for it. If commentators made it about the rule, not the man, that would be different. But it's their choice to pile in on one guy, and one guy only and repeatedly, that gets us furious.

Not saying the media are racist. I'm saying their is a double standard in media because of how people are viewed. When I mentioned that it was 100% racist it was more in terms to how he is treated by the wider AFL community and supporters. Last week at the Carlton game there was so bloody horrible things said about him when he went near the footy and I'm sure if I was at Sydney last night I would have heard the same thing. It's a reflection of society as a whole in my opinion.

Goodes was probably the wrong example to use, but Goodes played for free kicks and did some pretty antagonistic things during his time on the field. He got boo-ed because of those reasons. Everyone in the media considered it to be racism. Went into bat for him because it was impacting him.

Thomas plays for free kicks and does some pretty antagonistic things on the field.Gets boo-ed every single time he touches the pill and gets vilified by the crowd every time he is near the fence. Why is that not racism? Everyone in the media went into bat for Goodes, while Thomas cops a character assassination every week.

You don't see Shuey, McLean, Selwood and a whole host of others coping the same sort scathing criticism that Thomas cops week in week out. Why the hysteria around Thomas when there are so many other players that do it?

The whole thing that Thomas is a flog and every other word under the sun really under sells how much of a good person he is. He does an absolute mountain of work for indigenous communities, through the Huddle. He has set up a number of programs that help marginalised youth yet all of this goes unrecognised Because
The media continue to drill him from all angles.

It's a shame that so many people think he is a shit bloke because of how he plays on the field, because he is genuinely one of the best blokes off it.

I am much more upset about this than about the game. He is a quality man and seems to be considered fair game. An actual news outlet runs Twitter swill about him as a "story" - the only story about the match on the top page of their website. In my view, Goodes was attacked for being no worse than many others but being a black guy that people didn't warm to doing it - same thing again, except LT has a lot of the footy industry after him with an apparently free rein as well as bogans behind the fence. Makes me feel ill.
