I've never been much of a gambler, so excuse me if this is the dumbest question, but what do you mean by "the line"? I've heard it mentioned a few times and now I am curious. I'm guessing it's something to do with the margin/score?
Line betting is a way to handicap a 2 participant competition so its an equal chance like a coinflip.

Say Brisbane were scheduled to play West Coast in perth. obviously WC will be massive favorites, so to encourage more betting they offer a bet where they give brisbane a head start. in this example it might be 10 goals, so if you bet on WC they need to beat brisbane by more than 10 goals for you to win your bet. You get a better odds payout because your team has to overcome that initial handicap.

If you bet on brisbane, they dont actually have to win, they just have to get within 10 goals for you to win your bet.

So when people say the line is at 11.5 it means that team A has to beat team B by 12 or more points.

If the line is at 2.5 its expected to be a close game. If the line is at 39.5 its expected to no be a close game (team A should win most of the time by around 40 points)

In the above example if you bet $1 on WCE just to win outright you might only get $1.04 back (4 cents profit) or you could bet on brisbane and get $4 back ($3 profit), however the line bet is usually around $1.92 for WC (to win by more than 60) and $1.92 for brisbane (to get within 60)

clear as mud?

good.

Not true, he took unders to stay and was more interested in length of contract to stay at his beloved Port than $$$ amount. I heard it was around 450
I heard he's actually paying them to be able to pull on the Guernsey.

You didn't hear shit. You hoped, you dreamed and you wanked, but you didn't "hear" from anyone who actually knows.

This premiership thing is like getting straight A's in primary school and then dropping to a C grade average in high school.

No one really cares

Interesting. I wasn't saying the coach should try to give medical advice though. I was saying they should speak with the player. That isn't allowed?

Diagnosed clinical depression might not be extremely common but considering it's a spectrum, it absolutely is common.
Sure, you can talk - you and I would agree that it's a matter of degree and common sense. But bottom line is footy coaches should not feel obliged to be cod-psychiatrists.

PS You can have clinical depression pre-diagnosis - the diagnosis merely confirms it. It is not extremely common. Hence the danger of seeking to deal with something which may be a temporary human reaction (such as my "depression" about Cloke not kicking goals...) and perhaps inadvertently exacerbating it.

My mum did :(

Seems we're both reading what we want into it. I'm sure someone, might've been Tredrea, came out and said he took unders to stay. I very much doubt we're paying him 700k

No, I read the article from the link YOU provided. I read it word for word and unlike you I didn't interpret it or make shit up to try and prove something. I simply read what it said.

Just debating whether to go over to Perth for the game. Does anyone know the best place to buy a seat?

We are going through Ticketmaster resale, the game soldout within 5 minutes when they went on sale months ago. There was already tickets available on the resale site, the cheapest were over $100 each.

A real scam going on over there.

Have been watching the resale site and the cheapest are now down to $65 there is still over 300 available on the resale site.

Weather is looking good, we are golfing at Joondalup and The Cut with the footy Saturday night.

I think Tredrea stated it was 550-600k. Probably overs but he's a quality player when he's on and once the cap goes up it won't look too bad.

Different topic but how's Jenkins signature coming along? Seems his price would be going up by the week this season. He's got Connors as his manager doesn't he? Connors loves to make sides squirm.

No, I remember listening to Tredrea talking to Jarman and Louie on their football show and he said 700k (actually he said over 700k but we'll stick to 700k), and I distinctly remember it because I was blown away that anyone would offer him that particularly as he didn't have a very good season the year before.

Mate where to sit? Been talking to EAgles fans and all they do is call their stadium substandard and expensive.

Oh Yeeeeeees! last night in fact.

Lychie Restaurant at Holdfast Marina is my fave.(Lychie is correct spelling, not Lychee as you'd expect)

I'd take Citi-Zen, Ding Hao, Wah Hing, Mings Steamboat or Little Canton any day. It is nice food though.

Never been to Subi before, apparently the away cheersquad sits down the section 140 end, avoid 143 as that is dry. We will be getting 140 or 141.

There are some on the wing but they are still a bit pricey - thats why we have waited so long for these "sanctioned scalpers" to drop their prices, they have halved from when they were first listed.

I'd rather sit about middle of the ground, seems there's some seats in the lower stand opposite the big stand. No idea if they're any good though. Surely no stadium can be as shit as the SCG that place is shockingly bad.

It's amazing how port have managed to spend 100% of their salary cap while under paying everyone on their list. The entire list is taking pay cuts to play for them, yet they can't beat Carlton.

Cousins and Chick still haven't said whether they are going to the Eagles premiership renunion, would be sad if Cousins especially doesn't make it.

Really good piece on the Eagles of 2006 by Damo on TFS, gee they weren't good times off field.

Rubbish.

They should not even be having a premiership reunion as they should have has a number of players suspended.

Thery cheated as we were the main club that lost out.

Nah, i am the only seafood eater in the house so I don't get to adventurous.

I was down last weekend for my sons birthday and saints game. We had some very nice King George Whiting and Garfish my father caught over at Coffins Bay recently.
