I think this is the first time that going in all guns blazing at anyone who criticised him has genuinely hurt Trump. Previously those critics were mainly politicians, and sections of the media, so going after them in that aggressive manner that he does could be rationalised somehow, the Khans represent a different sort of critic to ones that he's faced before, and he hasn't dealt with it well.
Do you think it is possible that knowing Trump would react, the Democrats deliberately invited the Khans to speak?
Come in spinner?

Of course they did.

All Trump needed to do was respond that nothing he has given up could come close to losing his child, as they did. Then thank them for their sacrifice and promise to contribute to the USA in the way he always has so other families don't have to go through what the Khans did - back into Trump usual area.

That's all he needed to do to disarm it, but he dropped the ball.

All politicians are full of it, all politicians will talk about ending conflict to help America, supporting troops by bringing them home - then the next day discuss being tough and not backing down when American interests are threatened overseas.

He just had to play to the audience, but then the articles would be about him eating greasy KFC with a knife and fork. *rolls eyes*

Today he has come out stating that a stranger came up to him offering Trump his Purple Heart.

"Donald Trump joked Tuesday that he "always wanted" a Purple Heart and it was "much easier" to receive one from a supporter than earn the military decoration given to wounded and killed service members."

Wouldn't you think that would have been a great photo. Trump is full of it.

He's taken a poll hit every time he's gone after a private citizen, apparently (the judge, the Khans and the disabled reporter), but not when he went after politicians (even the McCain comments).

Most likely because democrats can't really criticise Trump based on his political career, past policies or any involvement in wars. Trump is an outsider and new to the political game. So democrats introduced the Khan family and they knew Trump would react

Hmm yeah. The point of that article is that France has stepped in where the US has left a market gap, not that the arms market has become bigger as a result of Islamic terrorism

The better play is hoodwinking states into buying into expensive projects like the JSF.
Is it hood winking or arm twisting?

Makes me cringe every single time.....

There is some sort of weird irony about Trump sinking his ship over a Muslim family.
I know what you mean, but it's actually completely logical. It wasn't Democratic trickery or whatever Taylor is suggesting at the top of the page - it is confronting Trump, his supporters, Republicans, and Americans, with how unfair and un-American Trump is when he demonises all Muslims.

If Trump had been complimentary, the question would've been, why do you want to have this person registered, or why wouldn't you let someone like the Kahns through the border, so he did what the dumbies like and instead tried to belittle them and their religion.

His gross insensitivity was a mistake because believe it or not not all his potential votership wants to demonise all muslims or veterans- particularly since Hillary is so odious. This is a nightmare election, both candidate are completely corrupt and immoral.
