I wonder who he'll retire at the end of the year?
Pav surely. Probably in a presser he's not invited to.

Suban wants out, Barlow's being pushed out, Ballantyne wants out...

Why the shit does BHill want in?!

Sakeson is attracting some interest.

Played full back at Brighton Grammar, but has moved onto the wing for Sandy and is looking decent.
Brayshaw and Burt attracting some interest as well apparently, due to getting National and State combine invites respectively.

Sakeson and Lyons also invited to the State Combine.

I've heard from a very reliable and informed source that you guys are huge into Ballantyne. Potential straight swap for Tom Lee with some later picks involved.

I've heard you guys are massively into Sammy Fisher if we don't offer him a contract and maybe even trying to lure Aaron Hamill out of retirement to play again.

Best part about it was ross being asked about it today and he genuinely had no idea.

But it's hardly surprising given how everyone at freo is conflicting each other in the media this year. That club is seriously imploding

No thanks.

We've been unimpressed with Lmao Jong and Rofl Jong and tonight the third brother Ffs Jong failed to show a lot [emoji848]

Getting a late pick is a reasonably good deal in this draft, the talent doesn't fall of a cliff.
Continually trading away next year's second rounder is short term thinking at its worst.

I dont really agree with this... I think trading our second this year for Steele (as trading our second last year for Freeman) is about continually getting top end talent with your second pick. This is the problem Richmond have, their later picks have turned into nothing. Where as ours have blossomed. If the club thinks that Steele is a better player than any player we could get a pick 26-30 odd, you take him that way (if you can get him out of GWS for that price) Trading back to lower first round pick may seem an intelligent thing to do, and two years ago I think it was - considering our list - but now we need quality not quantity.

We have to start using our first rounders very carefully. If this years pick 10(?) will not bring us a Marchbank (pick 6)/Steele (pick 15 bid) type deal, or a player of the quality of Hurley (I know he may cost more but I wouldn't want to pay more), then we must use that pick to get a quality young player.

Swapping back just means upping our chances of picking another soldier, we need quality, pick 10 gives us more chance of achieving that.

And what happens if we trade pick 10(?) for Steele and pick 17 early, and then later in trade week a club wants to offer us a quality player but pick 17 (a late first rounder) is not what they had in mind?

I respectively disagree Ghost. I think we'll see some pretty special performances from someone of his experience in the next 8-12 weeks, that result in Adelaide tying him up. I don't think he'll become available to us. Time will tell I guess
Is this where I pump up my own tyres...

I hate GWS.

I hate that they are going to get to trade out people who are surplus to their needs and get even more first round draft picks, further strengthening their already bulging list.

Yep, I hate GWS.

But I hate essendon more

I understand your frustration, it's ridiculous how they've been handed a super team on a platter, but I don't really see the point in getting angry at gws. It's the afls fault.

Plus they're already having issues with retaining players. I know, it's an embarrassment of riches but at least there is something to be gained from the situation.

We'd improvise & think of a way to make the deal happen. That's what Phillips, Bains & Elshaug get paid to do.

We were at a stalemate with Essendon last year, then got Sydney involved & it's netted us an absolute gem in Gresham & we've still got big Jake 'steaknives' Carlisle to come in 2017.

TBH, I'd be happy with Steele & pick 17 for pick 10. I've got the confidence that Richo would turn Steele into a JPK-type (with a better kick) & whatever we do with pick 17 would be a bonus

Maybe upgrade our pick 42 to 32/34 as well? Giving us two picks inside 35 as well as Steele. Upgrade NOK with our last. Would also still give us currency in the first 2 rounds of both this and next year's draft for a Hurley or similar.
