Gee PO come on Clark and Vardy haven't played bugger all footy for years now and Kerstens not a key forward,none will be really missed,the bloke that worries me is Stanley we need his signature and then look at the list.
Stanley doesn't worry me, the look of joy on his face after the siren was absolute gold. He is exactly where he needs to be.

Also potentially counting against Lucey is the fact we have named 4 kids from the Next Generation Academy who can be listed as Category B rookies if not selected earlier.
Has anyone seen any of these guys play or even know which geographical zone they're from? I assume the three indigenous guys are from Arnhem land but assumptions are a dangerous thing. Also seems none of them were listed for NT, so it seems unlikely they'll get scooped up by anyone else.

Bews still struggling to break in and although can do some odd jobs, think will continue to struggle for some time. Thurlow is more a cross between enright and Mackie, so he's not that small pacey defender either, and Guthrie gives us more drive playing out of midfield. Ruggles slower, grunt type, and still making some bad decisions.

I like Williams or Wilson from GWS.
Yeah, I like both of those from GWS also, right age profile too. Both have nice pace and attack the footy.

Hmm that's a good one, talent-wise he is better than Gregson & Cowan definitely. But again it's the work-rate, Gregson & Cowan work very hard, they put lots of pressure on & tackle a lot, Troy Menzel only seems to run hard when he is a chance of getting a goal it seems.

So definitely not a certainty to pull his finger out if he comes to Geelong, but feel we are the best place for him to possibly do that. I thought he would improve a lot in SA back home & with tougher coaches but he just hasn't, maybe only training alongside his brother will help him understand.

Is a different type of forward though to Daniel, Troy seems better when the ball is on the ground & he doesn't take many overhead marks at all, while Daniel has fantastic hands marking overhead, Troy is also more agile but that's obvious because Daniel can't be as agile after the knees.

But a forward line of Hawkins, D. Menzel, T. Menzel, Cockatoo, Motlop, McCarthy with sometimes a resting ruck up there I feel would be very dangerous. Hawkins, Smith/Stanley the talls, while D. Menzel can still take overhead marks for sure, but then when ball hits the ground the forward 50 pressure from Cocky, McCarthy, Motlop & hopefully T. Menzel (if he works harder) would be incredible.
Aside from his surname, Troy is yet to show anything that really excites me. Not in their side and already behind Milera as a first year player. Highly touted youngster and we do lack a genuine crumbing forward. I'd love to get him if we could use the trade to offload Murdoch.

Deledio won't be at Geelong... Now or on the future.

Why do people insist on inventing stories and then running with them.

I don't know anything about any of them but I think a poster (FullBack30) posted some info about Brown and he has been playing in the GFL.

This highlights package definitely excites me:

Wasn't developed well at Carlton at all, this year has been a real learning curve for him, wouldn't be surprised if he pushes into the Crows senior side next year but their forward line is already so damaging, so if he's playing well in the SANFL but doesn't get the opportunities I would love him at the Cats.

Apparently we nearly got him last year but declined us because of money.

If he has another shit year - Crows might be happy to get him off the books just to free up the cash.

According to a few of the VFL boys that i am mates with, Lucey is gone and Clark has retired.
This parallels what TSEL said on KROCK this weekend.

He did suggest that Lucey was OOC and we would have to wait an see where it went and offered the line that he is not in list management - but he runs the VFL program - so its clearly a media line.

As for Clark - it was kinda the same but less clear.

He said both has done well this year - just perhaps not well enough.

GO Catters

Wish they hadve asked about Timm House. We will lose a fair bit of our tall dept, could do worse than rookie.

I reckon if we go all the way this year there's a fair chance that all of Enright, Bartel and Lonergan will retire on a high. If then you assume that Clark, Vardy and Kersten will all depart that leaves quite a number of list spaces to fill. Horlin-Smith is another that has been mentioned in the trade whispers. From the rookie list Bates will be delisted.

We won't go to the draft with any more than 4 picks so I can imagine that we will be more active than we may have initially intended in trade week.

Enright = Thurlow
Bartel = Caddy
Lonergan = Henderson

We will cover them OK I think but it leaves us a bit thin on the ground.

Certainly leaves us thin. I wonder whether the club will look at one or two FA's if we do have a larger exodus than initially expected? Would be great to find another Menegola "hiding" in one of the second tier leagues.

There's De Boer at Freo and Brown at WC... that's about it when it comes to FA's. Personally, I think we should draw the best KPF and KPD from the national leagues and go from their.

I can't remember us having so much depth.
Well for next year at least anyway.

We'll probably have 11 picks over the next two drafts also.
You've got to admit, they've planned this pretty well.

I think they've planned it exceptionally well. Effectively Wells will have completely restructured our list whilst only missing the final 8 on one occasion. Quite remarkable.

With both Thurlow and Gregson to return next year that will help. But we will still need to bring in as you say around 10-11 new players in the next couple of years. This year may be heavier than next if a few plan on pulling the pin.

We still have the bulk of recent top end draftee is reserve
Thurlow, Lang, Cockatoo and Gregson

Smedts and Bews could also be more prominent.
EFA :D

DeBoer would be a good get. Played on gun mids for the majority of his career with a decent amount of success. Surely he is the perfect age and type to play on small forwards or resting mids. Not sure about pace but obviously has the right mindset to lockdown.

Bolded is inspirational.

I think Geelong should roll the dice, and try to get Jaegar O'Meara.

As you all know, O'Meara has left Gold Coast, and hasn't named a club. Favourites to get him are Essendon (through the draft) and Hawthorn. Gold Coast want a bit for him.

Now, you may baulk at us getting a player who has missed two years because of injury. But we have had Daniel Menzel, Nathan Vardy, Josh Cowan and Lincoln McCarthy miss years of football, only to finally come back and still be good for us.

Well, O'Meara is a superstar, and it would be akin to getting in Patrick Dangerfield.

Now, what would we give for him. Gold Coast wants players, so I suggest Vardy, who is looking for another club, maybe George Horlin-Smith. If Bartel doesn't want to play VFL next year, and Geelong want to "go younger", we could "Stevie J" him and include him in the trade. Even Stephen Motlop, who I have heard may be used as trade bait. We could put him up, and he would be quality for Gold Coast, or we could use Motlop in trading with Richmond to get Brett Deledio (who I heard we are interested in).

Imagine a midfield with Dangerfield, Joel Selwood and a fully-fit Jaegar O'Meara.
