Mitchell gone makes Sydney a better team IMO. One inside midfield too many and one outside player missing.

Belt Hannebury to submission and stick on him all day and they have no run. Its no wonder they capitulated when their only runner went down.

Hawthorn opposite. Too many runners not enough bulls. Perfect trade for both clubs if Sydney can find someone to even up that midfield balance. Have a feeling it's Hartung.

I don't quite get you. Do you not rate Mitchell despite wanting him to go to your club? He's one of the best young mids in the competition, had a great finals campaign, and is 22. He averages almost 30 disposals a game this year (despite tagging a little) and kicked 15 goals. And I'm suggesting he is worth a latish 1st round pick and a 2nd to 1st round upgrade, and you're baulking?
Trimmed because I would like to see a quote from Tom Mitchell saying he wants to go to the Hawks, would definitely be in GCFC interests to make a play here. They have picks and SC.

We need outside run but I would be disappointed if we targeted Hartung. I get the feeling he is not going to be much of a player.

Though you are right we need some outside run.

We may be after a Hartung type player but it won't be part of any Tom Mitchell deal.

Huh? If you're saying now, well obviously not (ignoring years to go). If you're talking about when you took Kennedy and he'd only played 10 games and wasn't proven yet, then yeah. Kennedy had nowhere near the same runs on the board when he was traded. He'd played 13 games to Mitchell's 65, including being one of Sydney's better players in a final series.

That's about what Danger went for.

It's too much given the circumstances.

I can see why Hartung would be steak knives in the Mitchell deal as it fills a need and he would be cheap youd think. Not in anyway saying a direct swap but he might be added as a sweetener. Can see that, although I can see him being added the same way to the JOM deal. Hawks issue is that they dont have heaps of players in that 21-26 age bracket that would be seen to have value by other sides.

We won't be after players because we are clearing the cap for a FA strike in 2018

which is another reason a player like Hartung would be used as the Cherry on top I think. Only because he wouldnt be on much money you wouldnt think. Will be fascinating to see how Hawthorn go about trying to get all the ducks in line to pull off both these deals.

They won't.
It's not what's meant to happen. Lucky enough if you get one of them but you won't get both, salary cap space or not.
Tommy Mitchell to Hawthorn may just be a smokescreen by Tom's management to get the Swans to cough up!
No doubt the Hawks want him but how do they make it happen?

He debuted in early 2009 after recovering from his 3rd reco in 2008 and was delisted at the end of 2010. Just wasn't up to it.

Never played anything near the level of O'Meara and Burgoyne.
Because he hurt his knee before getting drafted...

Please note that IF Tom Mitchell leaves the SWans it's because of a Salary Cap squeeze and in that situation NO Hawks player will be part of the deal because any Hawks player that we would find of value will cost as much as Tom Mitchell so derrrrrr, any trade of Mitchell to the Hawks will involve a pick/picks that the Hawks currently do not have.

Plus the first priority for the Hawks is to get O'Meara and I can't see how they even get that deal done.

Mitchell either stays or goes to a club that can offer suitable picks.

Yes, clearly they haven't reached the post where it says he's visiting the Gold Coast tomorrow to view our state of the art new facilities with the magnesium water swimming pool. :)
Suns will also show him all the excess cash available in their Salary Cap and explain - if he's interested - that his old side can be very well compensated (pick 8 ?)

likes him in hawthorn?

I just don't see how Hawthorn get the deal done. Very awkward position. Even if you managed to sort out a deal for JOM involving no picks.
Sydney don't take any pick over 11-12, they would be silly to.
It won't be a player swap as that doesn't help Sydney's cap woes.
I think Richmond and other clubs lower in the draft order will be pitching to the Mitchell camp.
