EMacs not a bad option either but dont give me this EMacs the second coming and N Browns a plodder business. Thats rubbish. N Brown played some real quality footy this year. He'll be easier to get. And not cost draft picks.Surely we've sounded out E. McKenzie, & with a B&F only a few years ago prior to his ACL was one of the best KD's going round.
If it costs us next year's second, it'd be a draft pick well spent. Would bring a great deal more to our backline than N.Brown.
At best Brown's a plodder with no rebound or intercept tools within his limited ability.
I can't recall many ex Pie players in recent years coming to the Saints, other than Monkey & Francis..
In 2016 Tom Lee was a better defender than Brown, & can be switched forward to some effect..
EMac will be back to his best next year, & he'd be an important pick up complimenting JC..
A spine reading the following, puts us right into top 6 calculations for next year..
McKenzie
Carlisle
Acres/Ross
Bruce
McCartin/Membrey
I think if you go by the point system pick 10 would get 2 picks in the mid 20's. I'd love to keep 10 and possibly do the slide back with a future first rounder. Not sure what club would be willing to do that thou.

Correct, but GCS are in a unique position where the might actually lose those mid 20s picks if they don't trade themI think if you go by the point system pick 10 would get 2 picks in the mid 20's. After listening to Baines, I'd be surprised if we went for any older players, even key backs. I reckon we could rule out getting McKenzie anyway.
I've missed a bit of the Dunstan conversation, but gathered enough. His speed isn't an issue. I believe we had another #7 not so long ago who wasn't super fast, but geez he could tackle and play the game well. Some games I watched this year, the way Dunstan did a side step or gave the hands out looked like Lenny.
In fact, Seb has reminded me of Pendles or Dal a couple of times this year too. That characteristic burst away from a pack, just enough movement to break away and put his good decision making to use by foot or hand. I was Level 1 at the Richmond game and it was awesome to see.
Now Acres, who does he reminded everyone of? I'm struggling to think of someone but gee he could be special if he can tidy up his kicking in the run. Untackable in a year or two.
Another genuine extractor like Steele is a perfect addition, and we just need some outside speed. It's handy knowing we have Freeman there, if he can get back to AFL level. Ideally we can snag a utility in the draft who can play outside, speedy with a good kick and can move forward.

Yes we know Nathan brought him a cold coffee, we know what happened to the last person who gave him a cold coffee don't we Heath Shaw.Word from someone in attendance at the Copeland last night was that Buckley thanked a few players for their service to the club. One of those was Nathan Brown.
Make of that what you will...

Thats the thing. I wonder what kind of season Eli would have had in the NEAFL.Hopefully the numbers are lying...not overly exciting reviews

I just don't like dealing with the Pies in any shape, so Brown's not on my Xmas list..EMacs not a bad option either but dont give me this EMacs the second coming and N Browns a plodder business. Im not saying Steeles gona be a flop.
The step up from NEAFL to AFL is huge which is reflected in the numbers.
But hes big and hes young. You couldnt imagine him not lifting to the next level?
Eli has some good traits yes, but fact is he never gets the ball and not once has he impacted a game.nope, rate his game massively.
you can't just trade speedy good endurance good kick players in the afl. his body isn't at afl level but I'm patient along as we have guys like panther on the list

Steele's speed is the concern, not as dynamic as AcresSteele wins his own footy on he deck & in the air. Totally different proposition to Eli. Steele is tracking similarly to Acres both in statistics & midfield opportunities he's been afforded.
Steele has done a lot more than Eli at afl level at this stage.Thats the thing. I wonder what kind of season Eli would have had in the NEAFL.

Not bad for a player in his second year mostly playing out of position. Compare those numbers to Acres after his second year.Hopefully the numbers are lying...not overly exciting reviews
