Anyone else going through this trade period with the old habit of asking yourself "who can we get this year to make us a better side?" and then remembering we just won the flag?
While I agree, you cant afford to stand still in this game....

I keep thinking don't get, don't get. I'd actually wish we didn't have to do compulsory delisting so we could just re sign everyone except maybe Stevens. I'd put keeping Hamling on top over bringing in anyone and I'm looking forward to who we might draft. Some of these trades today seem extremely desperate to me.

Agree with you, Pogba. He's a gun and will add a lot of class to an otherwise classless midfield in Adelaide (Sloane is class tho).

They have no real class in getting the inside ball outside of Matt Crouch who is a B grader and Sloane who is clearly A. How the heck do you boys rekon Gibbs is going to go when he has to win his own ball? If he was coming to the dogs or GWS it might be a different story but unless Adelaide have another inside mid coup up the sleeve I don't see it... Maybe they play him off half back. Meh.

If we want to move up the draft order in this draft we should consider using next years draft picks to do so, regardless if next years draft is strong or not. Next year might be that year we go hard for a player.

Strongly disagree. I think we'll see how good he is in a decent side. Big coup for the Crows I think.

I agree. Sloane can do most of the heavy lifting, Gibbs can find it if he needs to but will add some experience and polish. Crows need to find a ready to play inside mid in the draft or trade for one and they're in the flag race up to their eyeballs.

This isn't the year to be trading hard. Grab Cloke and be happy unless something magical drops into our lap. Fyfe or May would be ideal for example. Pure talent within our age profile should be our only move without giving away anything that may impact on the brotherhood we have assembled.

If we need to move on fringe types then grab future picks when we will need to do more work on our list when we likely lose Moyd and Murph and have others we run out of patience with.

I believe that organic growth within the ridiculously young premiership list we already have will hold us in good stead moving into 2017.

Am actually more worried about trade period this year than hopeful for the first time that I can remember.

We're still going to need to take three picks in the draft next year, even if we go hard for a free agent. We'll probably only be taking three picks this year as well (maybe 4), and we can work our way up the order through trading players to some extent.

Right now, our future picks would appear to have quite a low value. If a team trades for our future picks, they'll assume our first pick is likely to be 15-18, and value it accordingly. That pick can't devalue much further, no matter how next year goes, but it could increase in value substantially. I would rather not part with an asset that won't devalue, but could increase in value- we'd be selling low.

We need to bring in some decent recruits and some younger guys this trade period , Morris murphy Boyd all coming to an end , Crameri may be rusty after having a year off, picken has been great the last few years but is 30 may slow down next year, Adams is injury prone , stringer is a head case, Wallis is out for half the year and leg may give him troubles, we may lose depth such as hrovat honeychurch Minson Stevens adcock and hamling.
Clay smith is only an awkward landing away from his career ending.

Cloke will be a great inclusion if he isn't totally cooked, but we won't know until mid next year, we need a few more classy ball users hopefully lunch and Williams get a lot of games next year and we bring in someone like Luke Bruest ( those 3 guys alone I believe would turn us into a side that could win the next 2 flags ).
Harry Dear would be nice as a future replacement for Cloke and can pinch hit in the ruck which means Boyd could stay at full foward and kick big bags.
I think we also add jy Simpkin to our list as he is a match winner, his broken leg is a worry but we have just won a flag so can afford to take a risk

So off the main list:

Minson
Hrovat
Stevens

With cloke added. We need at least one more off the main list? Is that right?

Jong really should have gone. Even if hamling goes we can't bring anyone else in.

Prudden?

Maybe a chance he goes off the main list and we pick him up as a rookie.

I'm of the opinion that 8/10 buy ins don't work. There are reasons why clubs are prepared to part with their players that aren't always obvious. Happy to get some picks and go to the draft. We are good at that.
Jack Reiwoldt would be the only exception.

It's gotta be Prudden. A year off with injury after just scraping a spot on the main list last year. We won't have any competition for him and can take him with our second round rookie draft pick. Didn't we do a similar thing with Pearce? We need the list spot, Prudden is hopefully the guy. Otherwise it's Hamling, Moyd or Honeychurch.

My favorite dynamic of this trade week is the impending fire sale at GWS. Sounds like the AFL has royally screwed them and they now need to get rid of a fair few players. Will be some serious package deals and 2-for-1s. SOS will be licking his lips.

Ok been doing some research on how we went in 2016 by the numbers that will be up in depth in the next day or two.

Also how the cats and hawks added to their list from 07 & 08.

Anyway cloke might just be a better in then people give him credit for.

One area that we were lacking in was scoring and in particular contested mark, in the back end of the season we seen roughy and Boyd improve in this area, adding cloke can really help us in this area.

So as mentioned this year might be about making small moves and improving our draft hand, to go bang next season

From an impersonal, list spot perspective, sure.

But the one in, all in unity of the Bulldogs that Beveridge and co have cultivated is perhaps their most unique advantage over the competition.

Oh, and Bontempelli.

They will make out like bandits again from it, fob off a bunch of crap players, ex stuffed up high picks for a good pick, the only sucker is likely catlton and anyome else that thinks they are going to get a bargain, gws had a lot of misses in draft amd now they are cashing in on it from the gws depth myth

I think it is likely we delist Prudden then re-draft in either in the main or rookie draft
