That we need a KPP?

My point is that first round picks might actually be worth keeping.

Wasn't our last first round pick Ollie? Before that Chad... See where I'm going with this?

If we were to trade next year's first we will have taken one first round pick in five Drafts and we will also tie our hands in the 2018 Draft under the AFL's two in four rule. As we will have only used our first in 2016 we will be obliged to use it in 2018. If a decent player comes up in 2018 we will have no first to use unless we on trade.

All reasons why this supposed trade is a BIG NO.

I have some good news, and I have some bad news.

The good news: Brisbane will not be receiving our 2017 first-round draft pick.

The bad news: Chris Davies has set it aside for Chokito.

Don't worry, I am leaving.

CD: "These pretzels...*hyperventilates* are making me thirsty!"

Chokito: "ya'll just salty."

Getting a head start on developing pick 19 may well be a shrewd move instead of drafting a pick around 6-15 from next year. Pity I have no faith in the recruiting team to nail the picks, nor do I have any faith that 2017 is going to see us rise up the ladder.

That is a terrible trade, coupled in with being stuck with Lobbe & a 5 pick upgrade of a pick in the 40's for Ah Chee this could very well be the most underwhelming trade period we've ever had.

A future first round pick in a good draft for talls for Brisbane's priority pick for being shit & our 2nd rounder we paid overs for Dixon last year. Please don't let it be true.

What I don't understand is why can't we use our pick this year seeing as we're still technically getting a first rounder to use back with pick 19? If it's so Ken & co can save their ass with more draft talent at their disposal for next season i'm going to be mightily pissed off.

Not that I'm against trading them for Ryder and Dixon but right now we need another quality player. As said before the points system is beyond dumb.

Because while they are separating the wheat from the chaff of their young list, its useful to Gold Coast to use future picks as a means of holding onto player capital value outside the 40 man list.

If we're going to trade out our 2017 first rounder, can someone please explain to me why it's not to bring in another KPF so that...

1. We can support Dixon

2. We can cover him if he gets injured

Because right now we can't do either of those things due to a big f@#king hole in our list.

Not worth it in this years draft class.

CD has got into his head that we have to get a 2nd round pick for this year. Problem is once again we will mortgage another draft (2017) to do it.

Rather pick 9/10 next year than 19 and 30 this year.

Why in the name of holy f*** are we giving up pick 67 on top of next year's first. This can't be serious

We probably don't need it, Jonas and Stewart have just been offered 5 year contracts.

Doing the maths pick 19 & 30 is equivalent in points to pick #8

You picked up #9 this year and I expect your board feels you'll improve next year, so I guess technically you'll come out ahead all things going to plan

Looks bad up front, technically though I guess it's a sound decision
Points don't mean shit. It's merely something designed by the AFL for academy picks. It is hugely flawed and certainly not something you should trade first rounders on.

Because we are dumb enough to do this...
GC to get Hanley, 67 (from PA).
Bris get 2017 1st (PA), 22 (GC).
PA get 19 (Bris), 30 (GC)

Mother of God.

Pick 67 thrown in just to ensure we make the cut for those "Worst Trades in History" articles for years to come.

Pure madness.

How the **** could anyone involved in this trade possibly look at it with any potential upside for us at all?

It's like they looked at Hawthorn's terrible trade with St Kilda and said "how could we be dumber than the Hawks with gambling our ability to add quality young talent in the coming years?"

The AFL would be loving the leg up we're giving two clubs struggling to stay relevant in NRL heart land.
