If you want to break it up Tuohy for Marchbank and 2017 2nd rounder for Pickett, Smedts and 70.

Why did we involve hawks in the deal?
What do we get out of it besides trading a potential second pick for shitter picks from them?

So the Hawthorn trade is effectively GWS second rounder next year which will probably be 35-36 for 48, 66 and 70. I'm completely fine with that we get to replace the picks spent on Pickett and we hold onto 5 and 25. Plus didn't get rolled by Adelaide.

But we helped out the hawks massively, when we could have just taken the second pick from GWS and used it ourselves

If we plan to use the hawks picks this year and have targets ect then it makes sense to trade a pick that:
A isnt in this years draft
B Was never really ours in the first place (came from gws and went straight to hawks)

I suppose you have to look at it as trading a pick from 34-36 for picks 48,66,70. From a points perspective it stacks up and provides some goodwill for the future with the professional list managers

The best way to look at it is as a trade only item. We traded tuohy and 2017 2nd for the above. On the basis I think it's a win.

How true was the talk that Gibbs was on a heavily front ended deal and so we had already fronted up the bulk of his contract?

That's why we had such a high asking price for Gibbs. Something Justin Reid would have been more than aware of.

We traded Geelong's 2017 1st, and two 3rd rounders for Marchbank & Pickett & GWS 2017 2nd. Kept our 2017 first, ended up with 2 2017 2nds.
Then traded one of those 2017 2nds to get a couple of picks back in the 3rd round?

Bit of a merry go round but basically Geelong's 2017 1st rounder for MB & Pickett

No mate. We lost our second next year in the Tuohy deal. We traded it (and Zach) for Geelongs 1st.

Geelongs 1st was then traded for Mbank + Pickett and GWS 2nd rounder. We then traded that second rounder for 3 late picks this year.

We don't have any second round picks next year.
