I didn't try to weasel out of it. I stated that between the Democrats and Republicans combined the graph shows a net increase. I thought it was self-explanatory that the Republican shift upward was greater than the Democrat shift downward.

No? If you combine the Democrats (-12) and Republicans (+54) on that graph, it creates an increase of +42 in that time. Therefore, his popularity has increased overall. I'm not sure how you're disagreeing with maths.

I used the only data that I could find, which happened to document Democrats and Republicans, and extrapolated the US to the western world. Anecdotally speaking, it seems that he's gained popularity from the people I know. I certainly don't think it was the 'dumbest post in the thread' to suggest that he's more popular than he has been in the past.

Ok. I will admit I was wrong about the executive order. Mark Zuckerberg has ordered that supposed fake news be blocked from his social media platforms.
As for Obama's motivation for war, you seriously cannot deny it. Obama stated back in 2015 that he would win a third term if he was allowed to run. He has also stated that he would have beaten Trump. Why is Obama placing more sanctions on Russia? Why has he stated that they also have the option of carrying out covert actions against Russia? You do know that placing sanctions against a country is considered an act of war!
Luckily for everyone, Putin is ignoring Obama and taking the piss out of a toothless president. Putin knows once Trump is elected, all of the sanctions are gone. Not just the ones that were placed on Russia based upon the phoney accusations that the Kremlin was behind the email hacks that only released the truth about the DNC.

Normally I don't always click on links or watch Youtube posts (I prefer my news 'live') as they usually only confirm bias of the poster but in this instance the article you refer to is well written and pretty objective.

This paragraph caught my eye:
This has led to widespread confusion among news audiences over whether the Russians hacked the DNC emails (a story that has at least been backed by some evidence, even if it hasn't always been great evidence), or whether Russians hacked vote tallies in critical states (a far more outlandish tale backed by no credible evidence).

I believe the first part but not convinced about vote tallies. In saying that I would imagine that all countries spy on each other but the big difference is the release of the information obtained via these measures. Further having just read 'Putins Klepocracy", I would put nothing past Putin and it concerns me greatly if Trump cannot see him for what he is. Putin did not get to where he is by being a 'nice'guy.

Taibbi is definitely one of the better journalists out there. It's always refreshing to read his articles as he doesn't seem to write based on ideologies (His depiction of the GFC, Griftopia, is similarly excellent, attacking individuals regardless of their party affiliations). A good polemicist is worth their weight in gold.

In saying that, my opinion is probably helped by my support of Trump.

I'll make sure to read Putin's Kleptocracy when I finish my uni exams in a few days time. I'm curious to see how the Trump-Putin relationship pans out. I can see it ending pretty badly if Putin continues to pander to his ego, only to do something that makes Trump look stupid. I don't think Trump would take that particularly well. However, I think that a healthy relationship between the two nations would be a nice change and would hopefully lead to less global conflict.

I just can't agree with these type of retaliations.

They have to stop somewhere as we have entered a dangerous era worldwide (IMO), sophisticated weaponry/wars, unemployment, poverty, displaced populations, climate change etc.

Sadly I don't see any world politician standing out to guide other nations through this and the UN being a toothless tiger.

Definitely is not Trump, I really believe he will make matters worse. (I am not a Clinton fan).
There is a huge gap in good politicians everywhere, including Australia.

I have just read that he has not held a formal press conference since July last year. Someone who doesn't put himself up for questioning is someone I do not trust. He is being carefully managed, I wonder how long this will go on for? Which other leaders predominately communicates with the people through twitter?

I think that the biggest issue for Trump will be that of accountability. Being President of the USA is not like being president of your own company, and nothing I've seen thus far suggests he understands that.

Yeah....I've contextualized it in it's current guise as a particular 'rationale' on behalf of the U.S govt & it's secret services, to both raid the coffers at home & to justify the destruction of democracy's abroad....As a fundamental agenda of impoverishing & enslaving it's own citizens while legitimizing mass-murder abroad.

And all of it brought about, via the govt's own terrorist plot & act on 9/11, where it murdered 3,000 of it's own citizens.

If you have ever witnessed terrorism enacted on this level & to this scale, as a means by which to 'steal' resources world-wide, then I'D suggest that it's you who require the history lesson chum.
