In all seriousness this is the huge red flag. The head of the Joint Chiefs serves at the pleasure of the President and can be fired, but there's only been one general dismissed on Presidential authority as far as I can tell (Macarthur). It's a deeply unpopular move.

What's more, assuming Coats is appointed DNI he's very anti-Russia.

The central cabal of Trump, Priebus, Bannon and Kushner are trying to cement as much power as possible.

I asked a genuine question in my first post on this matter: was Trump even allowed to add more nations to the ban list in his executive order even if he wanted to, or would he need the support of Congress? Because I've seen it argued elsewhere that he would need authorization from Congress to do that unless there was a genuine threat for national security.

I think the Bill said more countries can be added at the discretion of the Director of Homeland security.

There were more than just Jews that were killed in concentration camps. In fact, they weren't even the first to be killed:

From its rise to power in 1933, the Nazi regime built a series of detention facilities to imprison and eliminate so-called "enemies of the state." Most prisoners in the early concentration camps were German Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, Roma (Gypsies), Jehovah's Witnesses, homosexuals, and persons accused of "asocial" or socially deviant behavior. These facilities were called “concentration camps” because those imprisoned there were physically “concentrated” in one location.

After Germany's annexation of Austria in March 1938, the Nazis arrested German and Austrian Jews and imprisoned them in the Dachau, Buchenwald, and Sachsenhausen concentration camps, all located in Germany. After the violent Kristallnacht ("Night of Broken Glass") pogroms in November 1938, the Nazis conducted mass arrests of adult male Jews and incarcerated them in camps for brief periods.

1.5 million Romani (Gypsies) were killed by the Nazis. Are we saying that their deaths are of less worth than that of Jews? Because that is what people would have you believe. In total, there were 5 million non-Jews that were killed during the Holocaust. And they ALL deserve to be remembered.

From a sheer policy perspective it's bizarre. Why the hell did it extend to those with existing visas? Why to green card holders? These are people that have already been vetted and cleared by US border officials. These people are still in strife - they can't return to the US. Only those already in transit were affected by the XO stop order.

And the catch with the Obama policy was that it wasn't a flat out blanket ban - it just made it far more difficult for those in the process.

These are people that have already been vetted and cleared by US border officials. These people are still in strife - they can't return to the US. Can't green card holders still enter the US? They just have to visit an embassy or consulate to undergo further screening processes before being allowed back in.

I'm not defending the policy. Just pointing out for all those people who thought it was weird that Trump only issued the ban to these 7 countries and not other Muslim-majority nations that he was just following and expanding upon a Law that Obama introduced which specifically targeted citizens of certain Muslim countries.
