Why Cox and not Moore, our forwards tonight were entirely rubbish as a group (save Fas for a period in the 2nd). Probably more a function of our poor delivery and decision making, and uncharestic poor conversion. Cox was good in the ruck. From what Bucks said he liked rotating a tall off the bench, gave us an ascendancy in the ruck.

Cox was ok in the ruck but his influence in that position is not enough to justify keeping him in. If he's not marking the ball he is a liability and that was shown last night. The coach himself admitted we played better when we rotated a tall off so expect a smaller forward line next week.

Dropping Moore and keeping Cox is crazy. Moore may have had a forgettable game but he has more ability in his little toe than Cox has in his entire body. Right now Cox is not up to AFL footy, if he is going to improve he needs to find form in the VFL over an extended period of time.

If Elliott is ready then he has to come in for Blair. Otherwise I'd probably go in unchanged, although I suspect Aish might come in to bolster our midfield rotations.

Keeffe had less impact in the VFL forward line and lacked the hitouts.
Fair enough, but what's the option do we persevere with Cox as a Chop out ruck or not. He got his hands on the ball what once in the forward line and casually kicked to the right side. He was able to outreach Boyd but gave little else IMO. If he stays in he will have to do a hell of a lot more to earn another go. Last night was an example of why he's still a rookie.

Either his timing was off or the dogs defenders did a pretty good job of blocking Moore's path to the mark. Looked a bit of both to me but the tall defenders won the night.

Moore seemed to be out of position up the ground a lot too and beside the footy rather than in front. There were heaps of times when going forward the ball was held up because there wasn't enough talls in the 50 or running at the ball.

Why we keep lobbing the ball to Blair I will never know! But that's a separate issue.

We don't run back as hard as the Dogs. White is our best athlete and Moore is still developing his tank. Cox couldn't run out of sight on a dark night.

White is the only other option, we have poor list management last year to thank for that. Going with 1 AFL ready ruck, 1 first year ruck and a handful of questionable part timers was always going to be an issue at some point in 2017.

Phillips was/is garbage, the bloke makes the worst decisions under pressure out of any player on our list. How many loopy handballs/kicks can one player do in a game to put teamates under pressure? Not to mention for large parts of the game he was playing on JJ who was the catalyst for their surge in the 3rd.

What does he actually contribute?

Our best football at the end of last year was played with just 2 tall forwards. We also played less of a pushed up zone. Why go away from that.

Hoskin Elliott needs to play up forward, someone who can kick with skill around the f50

In - Aish, Elliott

Out - Blair, Cox

He contributes lots of possessions. None of them are any good but he gets lots of it. I guess quantity and not quality is seen as a positive.

Once DeGoey, Wells, Elliott, Aish, Greenwood are fit we won't be seeing much of Phillips

A little harsh.

Cox did more than Clokey last night (if he kicks that goal in the last quarter)
Some of his ruckwork is fantastic and he had quite a few "nearly moments"
He must be persisted with (if we're serious about getting better). Jesse White and JB out for Broomy (or Daicos) and Anyone who can play forward....Crocker? / Kirby!!
Aish will come in for Varcoe

Out: Blair, Cox, Goldsack
In: Elliot, Scharenberg, Aish

With howe moving back the forward line so you have White Moore as the talls, Howe Mayne as the mediums and elliot, faz as the smalls

Greenwood is out for 6 weeks so he won't be coming in any time soon!
Dunn is a lock for Smith (gives nothing)
Elliott & Aish for Blair & Goldsack

Ramsay, very very lucky - if Sinkers was fit Ramsay GTFO of that side.

The Dogs will be Top 4 this year, we had minimum scoreboard pressure on these guys and biggest lead was under a goal.
If and when we get a serviceable forward outfit we will be able to put more gap in the lead and the 5-10 minutes we lapses we always seem to have won't be such an issue.

When I watch with the family they all say why do Collingwood play so much better when they play fast? Maybe just a simple fact that our less smart players just go on football instinct and make better decisions than she they have time to think.

Was more than happy with that for a first up, but the tide will turn quickly if we are 0-3.

I am taking the conservative approach!
Aish in probably in at the expense of Mayne due to the fact he doesn't rotate through the centre.

Dropping Mayne is a difficult one because he played alright last night, was one of the few that showed composure with the ball.

Blair gets another gig because he can play through the centre. His decision making and skills last night were poor so I expect him to bounce back this week.

I don't understand why we played Cox last week, I've already posted that another quick forward who can rotate through the centre was my preferred option. I would have played Broomhead.

This week I have Cox in just to make Rance accountable. Cox, Moore and White combo really troubled Richmond in the JLT.

Need more midfield class so only one change Aish in and Mayne out.

I think Varcoe will play!
