It was interesting to hear what Chris Scott said when he was asked by Robbo about the tactics of the game against St Kilda. He mentioned that when it got to the fourth quarter, he barely made any tactical moves and it was all his players work. His leaders made their own moves. Why can't our players take control??

Yep, it's perplexing.

Are we coaching for these situations, so the players know what to do, but the set-ups they follow are flawed? Or are the players just not reacting to these situations and implementing correctly?

Either way, in part it comes back to coaching. But I don't believe our on-field leaders are perceptive enough to recognise when they need to be driving change on-field. I would like to think that the players would also be clued up enough to throw players behind the ball on Saturday night. I do remember Higgins instructing Drew to go back in a close match, can't remember exactly which.

If one of us is online that's kind of what happens. You'd be amazed how many posts don't see the light of day beyond a brief look. Otherwise, when we're otherwise engaged with real life stuff, no. We usually logon to find the mess, often in the form of multiple reported posts like last night, and then we subsequently clean it up and deal with it. The "play nice" message is pretty clear.

Players need to be coached as to what to do, then you can empower them to make the right decisions at the right time.

Responsibility starts at the top, accountability required of everyone. Issue, performance & decision-making by coaches (Puppeteers) is just as important as what is required of players.

The puppets are only as good as the puppeteers!, better puppeteers are needed.

If you're inclined to throw out a few A/S/L type posts overnight I do know of at least one senior poster who tends to jot down the details then delete these posts just to reduce the competition.

After careful consideration I have jumped off the bye bye brad bandwagon. I'm very impatient and premature when it comes to change . Swallow and Thomas will eventually be dropped if form doesn't improve .
Our leaders in zeibel and cunners let us down in the gaping last few moments of the freo game.
I think we punched way above our weight 2014/15 and is probably a good result considering the lack of actual talent we have.
In perspective we have not had early draft picks in a long long time so trying to nail the draft is impossible enough with early picks let alone late picks. Just study teams that have ****ed up top 5 picks.

It really is mind boggling. You are taught basics like flooding back in under 14's. It's common sense. My mum who shouts 2 things during games ("BALL UMPIRE" and "JUST KICK THE THING") knows that you flood your backline in that scenario.

The defenders should have been shouting at players to get their arses back. Jack and co. should have sent players back. Forward players should have taken it upon themselves to go back. Petrie would have.

Whoever is responsible needs a stern talking to. If no one is taking ownership then they need to start a chain of command. Really basic stuff.

It's easier to scapegoat kids than to admit your failings as a coach.

Some posts are deleted because they contain a quoted post which was deleted. If there's a conversation that contains deleted content, the entire thing will be scrapped to ensure nobody can read content that has been deleted.

Also important to remember sometimes posters will delete their own posts! It's not always us. As TT said, we all have jobs and lives and real-world commitments to deal with, so although we attempt to cover the board for as wide a time range as possible, there is always the chance we'll all be offline simultaneously and log back on to hell on Earth.
