That you offered up Daw who's trash which was a douche move itself. It actually amuses me that you didn't clue in on that especially given I asked about the status of McKay. Why would I do that if I didn't know he was potentially quality? While you're stinking the board up with a discussion on Daw I might as well ask about Durdin's status as well?

On Daw he's in his 8th season in the system and is supposedly someone we would be interested in? Why? We already have White spudding things up as an athlete cum footballer what possible reason could we have to attract another list clogger?

I'm all for the opinion of neutrals on our board because the group think gets seriously bad on occasions (look no further than supposed deals for Lever and Schache), but any discussion on a guy the quality of Daw goes nowhere.
Its fine if you think Daw is garbage. Many at North agree. In my original post I did ask would the Pies even want him.

I was asking the thoughts of Pies supporters because I heard they were into him. Don't pretend you're interested in neutral opinions on your board when you go from O to hostile instantly. It is your board though, I am intruding, I'll leave happily.

I'll admit I was confused what the rumour you'd heard was as I thought it was common knowledge we need a KPF.
Bearing in mind we've just lost to our most despised team, your timing is a little off as I doubt your "rumour" would've only surfaced within the last 72 hours.
Perhaps if you'd worded your post along these lines originally the conversation might have taken a different course.
Thanks for your input though.

Hostile? I referred to Daw as garbage which you confirmed is a view shared by most on your own board and then asked as to the status of McKay and Dustin? Which you still haven't answered...

Where's the hostility. I'm very blunt about what I view is best for my club, but I'm open to discussions that can go somewhere as the McKay and Durdin discussions may. Whereas anything on Daw is pointless regardless of the "rumour".

What sort of response do you think I'd get if I jumped onto your board and said that I'd heard a "rumour" you were into White? The discussion would rightfully be shot down very quickly.

We need to build through the draft for a few yeas. Our list has gaping holes and unless a free agent will be around in 3 to 5 years and fill one of these holes we should steer clear. But Eddie will go for the big ticket item no doubt, can't help himself.

Have to agree right now he's a 6-7/10 so he's Goldsack without the fumbling. He can get to the 8-8.5 standard, but do we really need fantasy deals on a non fumbly Goldsack when we already have Scharenberg waiting in the wings? IMO, like some of the Schache talk let's cool our jets!

One point though Smith was big time last night without Greene in the forward half winning the lions share of the ground level ball. I wouldn't prioritise him, but if that's an indication of what he'd do with us with our smalls being more 12-15 ppg types we could do worse than having a dip.

The only problem I have with Smith is we seem to have a fair few small forward/mids on our list in Broomhead, Sidebottom, Daicos, Brown, Kirby, WHE. Then have two small forwards in Elliott and Fasolo. Crocker seems vanilla to me but even he could make it. We have allot of players who are or could play his role. other than that I think he gives us leg speed and another scoring option which I wouldn't say no to.

2013 Draft is considered one of the best. The proof is in the pudding. When you look at Pick 20-30. They're mostly good players, not a single bust. When usually there's at least a few busts within that range.

Pick 1-10, we performed the worst even though we had 2 picks. I know people are gonna say Schaz is gonna be a gun, and he might. But right now he's almost as big a fail as Freeman(big call, I know).

This draft proves Hine isn't as great as he's made out to be by collingwood supporters. I think we were the worst performed club in this draft. Schaz, Langdon and Oxley are the only players on the list. Although we have traded in Aish for Freeman(basically). He still hasn't been any good for us. None played AFL this week.

Richmond did bad too with only Lloyd and Lennon being any good, but at least they have played a bit of AFL.

What's concerning is that we couldn't have done any worse with our 2 first picks.
Kolodjashnij is the next words player in the top 10, and even he has played 65 games.

I know we have had injury troubles and everything else, and we obviously recognised it was a really good draft. Hence why we jumped from 11th to 5th with our draft position. Either way, the draft is a fail.

We might just have to bite that bullet. We can't keep sending Moore out there with little or no tall support. And while we need to draft one, an 18 year old KPF won't provide adequate assistance.

Alternatively, we could just bite another bullet and deploy our Reid forward to be that mature body and just use Dunn and Schade as our key backs, while fast-tracking McLarty. It robs Peter to pay Paul, but it saves the problem of (over)paying for Sam...

Other than that, if we're going to smash-and-grab an established star, that means a good player is in the deal, ala Ryan Griffen. But would you trade, say, Sidebottom...?

1. Agree - we need another presence in the F50, and one (preferably) that occupies most opposition planning allowing Moore to build and develop
(Who? Perhaps it is (Sam) Reid)

2. I like this option - if we are going to build for 1-3 years, swinging Ben Reid forward to take the heat off Moore and then hope Dunne and Schade can be the KPD (with a chop out from McL as he develops)
It just makes me a bit mad as Howe is a ripper in defence but I'm not sure he'll last long enough to be around for our next tilt at it...I hope so

3. Yeah, we don't have much currency...I feel like a sell out to the boys but I would trade anyone save for Pendles / Moore / Billy and Brodie
(of course, no being in the inner sanctum, I don't know the players who are the fabric of the club and who hold us together - no matter their ability)

Further, my old man used to say, "you can't make fig jam out of pig s#$t"
I love this quote and use it all the time when Im debating over the value of things (cheaper version "that will do" versus something that costs but is quality)
So much of our trading / list management appears to be about "that will do" or "let's just get someone" rather than lets get the player we want / really need or if we can't, then sit out and wait until we can.

I guess what irks me as well, despite what any other poster thinks, I believe we paid too much for players that we brought in (players I really wanted and have / will be good for us)
There are very few players I would trade 2 first rounders for - and they'd need to be KPP.
There are times when you need to walk away from trades no matter how much it hurts.

At the same time, IMO, we've traded out players for unders who at certain periods had high currency (Witts / Cloke) - we really should have had much better picks, and therefore a lot more players on the list filling holes of need.

Sam Reid has played just over 100 games and is 26 years old. For virtually his whole career he has played in a very good side.

He averages just 11 disposals, 4 marks and 1 goal per game over that career. For comparison, Jesse White has played just over 100 games and averages 10 disposals, 4 marks and 1.2 goals per game.

He is not going to improve the side therefore, he is not worth pursuing at any price.

Let's go to the draft, pick (hopefully) a talented young KPP and develop him ourselves, just like we used to do before we decided quick fixes were all the rage.
Sam Reid is also a pretty poor kick when he does get on the field...pass.

Thoughts on Majak Daw?

I'm hearing from pies supporters for the need of a KPF and ruckman, i was thinking that too.
He has his injury worries but i think with a decent run he can play and he is surplus to Norths needs atm with Pruess developing well and Ben McKay too.
Would the Pies want him? What would he be worth?
Has averaged 5 games a season over past 5 years due to constant injuries and poor form. Averages 8 possessions a game despite playing half games in the ruck. Is 27 next year and has been described by some as a wasted talent akin to Jesse White, who has promised so much for so long and delivered squat. PASS

Caro said on Footy Classfieds we are having a Big Crack at Shache and Hutchy said there is a UnHappy young player at the Club
