Holy shit the Kelly rumour is gaining legs, the Trade Whisperer may have been onto something after all :D Kelly would seriously be the perfect fit in our midfield.

I'm assuming that North are considered the front-runners at the moment, rezagun?
From what i know norths offer is massive. If you were a kid it would be hard to turn it down. I guess it depends on what he wants.. to be challenging for a flag or to be getting $$$. Thats where we fit in nicely.

But Hawks built their side after being shit and getting picks which they used very wisely.

We have built our side without being shit and without getting charity picks which we managed to use astutely in spite of it but we're otherwise at a similar stage to where the Hawks were.

Actually, we probably should keep doing what we have been doing as once you start trading with picks big time, there will be a big chasm looming a few years down the line.

It hasn't been working.

Fair but reckon we'd need to add a real player to clear some more room.

Our first and Smith?

If we are going for Kelly we can't walk into negotiations thinking our best 22 are untouchable or that Mackay will flag interest ( I'd still offer him and pay most his salary). I know they have similar players for that role but a first round pick + an AA player may be enough to get the deal through and leave us with a first for something else if needed

There's not a whole lot of players that GWS need, and a rebounding defender probably isn't one of them when they have Williams and Wilson.

The thing they probably need most is a small or tall lockdown defender, or a good small forward, but I'm not sure who I'd give up.

Maybe you'd hand over a guy like Charlie Cameron

Afl trade whisper didn't get anything right over the last trade period. No chance we get Kelly we will end up with Gibbs who add no hard nosed edge to our weak midfield. Kelly would get tagged week in week out at North. I hope if we are in contention he works that out.

2017&2018 1st rounders and 2017 2nd for Kelly would be the price.

Jenkins for Gibbs straight swap????

Or do we go after Rockliff and Gibbs??

They wouldnt be able to afford Dusty. Their problem will be fitting their existing stars into their salary cap. Its beyond me why the went for Delidio. Is he going to cost them keeping hold of guys like Kelly. They have that much talent in that squad its ridiculous. Mo superstars mo problems.
If you follow NBA the NY Knicks sacked an assistant that worked with Porzingas ( very good prospect) . Minor thing sacking an assistant. But if the assistant gets a spot on another team , why wouldn't the star follow

My point is if Deledio leads to getting Dusty , and Deledio is the welcoming committee then its worth it.

I do agree their salary cap massaging will be one for the integrity unit to keep a close eye on

Interesting idea. But in this case the assistant is eating from the same pie as the gun player. What if Lids eats part of the slice that they were going to give Dusty.

Anyway. Here is hoping that North get Dusty and we get Kelly.

Kelly for 1st round picks this year and next, Dusty as FA, Rockcliff for Jenkins, MacKay and Douglas. I can dream right? Imagine a midfield of Sloane, Rockcliff, Kelly, Martin

Sooo.... two firsts.

Given the "Geelong amendment' to the future picks rules, assume we can trade our 2017 + 2018 1st round picks for JK. Sweeten the deal with future 200 game star Mookay.

It's happening!

I don't think we even need the Geelong amendment, do we? I'm trying to recall the exact rule, but I think it just says that you have to use 2 1st round picks in a 4 year period, or something like that? Given we've already used 3 in the last 2 years (Gallucci last year, Milera and Doedee the year before), we should be able to trade this year's and next year's first without needing any special permission from the AFL.

Be patient ... gut feel says we will be right in it for the many years coming up as we play the long game (but any mistakes draft wise or coach wise will have a drastic effect on us).

That sounds like 2007 again

We've been hearing about the jam tomorrow for a long time, usually based on little more than wishful thinking

whats the deal with gws's wilson? i think hes every bit the player that kelly is. we could have him on 1 side and smith on the other, then we wouldnt even need a midfield cause they can both just kick it into our forward 50 making our midfield redundant.

One SA youngster that won't be heading home any time soon...

https://www.triplem.com.au/sport/af...r-bailey-williams-signs-new-two-year-contract

Western Bulldogs youngster Bailey Williams has signed a new two-year contract that ties him to the club until the end of 2019.
Williams was due to come out of contract at the end of the season, but his immediate future at Whitten Oval is now secure.
Western Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said the club was pleased to retain Williams' services for a further two seasons.
"Bailey has shown some really promising signs since he came to the club in 2015," McCartney said. "His poise and decision-making are of a high quality, and we're looking forward to watching him continue to develop into a quality player for the football club.” Williams has played 10 games since being drafted by the Dogs at pick No.48 in the 2015 draft.

Jake Kelly, yes. Josh Kelly, not even close.

Really like to have him in our team, great player to have coming out of defence. In saying that, he isn't a patch on Kelly
