I can excuse DBJ's brain fade. He's new and still learning .. if it was by someone who's routinely been with us the last 3-4 years when we have lost these close games I'd be worried. I think Eddy is an upgrade as much as i think Butch wasn't given every chance to prove himself. Eddy has kicked well for goal and has done so consistently at SANL level. I think Ken thinks Eddy still needs to work on his defensive side of his game but i still would play him, it's obvious that Dixon needs help and if he had not played well this season imo things would be much worse. It makes no sense to recruit Eddy at the of 27 and not play him, he is kicking goals.

I love Butch as much as the next person but he had plenty of opportunities to prove himself be it within the SANFL or AFL.

Definitely, he can kick. And an overall smarter footballer too.

I love Butch as much as the next person but he had plenty of opportunities to prove himself be it within the SANFL or AFL.

I know what you are saying but in his last year when he was playing well at the magpies, Ken selected him when we had injuries to both key forwards and every one expected him to come straight in and kick a bag. I would have liked to of seen John come in when Jay and Charlie were there to build his confidence but he was thrown to the wolves so to speak. Butch did every thing right apart from his set shots and in saying that is Westy any better atm, answer is no probably worse, so why is he a walk up start every week and Justin is one of my favourite players but i can't defend him any more, especially in big games.

I wasn't aware of that, but I guess it may be possible given he would have no doubt been on decent coin as an investment broker, and would have probably needed some extra incentive to give that up for a rookie list spot.

If it is correct you would hope he is given a chance to prove himself at the higher level, and hopefully will get a gig this week.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Impey, DBJ and Amon have gotten away with their games a bit as the more senior players weren't at their expected level.

Personally DBJ for me has been an issue for weeks. I've called and noticed him several times allow his opponent to get goal side of him through over committing to contests and or running under the ball flight. Then there's moments like that smother which just wasn't desperate enough. I aint writing the kid off or anything but I personally think he's been poor for a few weeks now.

Amon is just up and down, and usually down in the big games. He should be playing SANFL, but our lack of outside talent affords him more chances than I think he should have. I've said it many times but I'd be playing Bonner on the wing in the SANFL as Bonner could take that position and own it. Bonner is a far superior player and line breaker and if he adapts he would improve us significantly.

Impey, well he does some amazing stuff one week and then disappears the next. I don't know what we do about him.

You know the bloke who gave me that information Nick, and he is usually on the money, is it possible that there could have been an extension when Eddy was upgraded to the main list?

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible if he was upgraded to a free spot, it isn't like he replaced a long term injury and has to go back to rookie, but i could be wrong, AFLPA doesn't normally make rules to cater for the bottom half of their membership.
I hope so because he is a forward, looking through our team on thursday you have Dixon and half of Westhoff who are forwards, and then a bunch of people that weren't drafted as forwards. They just don't have the forward craft. Robbie does but he shouldn't have to play on Steven May and stuff like that when we are crying out in the midfield as well.

You are right on the money with all of those criticisms cookie boy, DBJ in particular has been disappointing this season, and for the reasons you have given.
Amon is very inconsistent and is probably only getting a gig because he is such a good kick, but he doesn't get anywhere near enough of it, and Impey can look a million bucks one week, and very ordinary the next.

Young out for Eddy and play Hoff as an extra outside mid/swingman who can drop back and pick off some intercept marks for us.
