Hearing Andrew Gaff may want a change of scenery come 2018. Essendon also could be high on the list as it stands now. 2nd hand info, take with a kilo of salt.

Whilst I'd like Gaff, we need inside mids, not outside

Rocky's attitude sucks? Please explain in more detail.
There is this article, for example, that says;

"Rockliff has been the subject of persistent rumours about his leadership style, his relations with other players and off-field matters."

Interestingly, it also says, " For too long, he's been the engine of a vehicle whose wheels keep falling off. He'd be far better off as a very capable cog in a much slicker, more premiership-ready machine."

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/afl...o-cut-tom-rockliff-loose-20160823-gqzcjz.html

There's also been this, “too many problems with him by way of behaviour and attitude... (He has been) just blowing things up. He can’t be captain.”, which was admittedly Damian Barrett, but these things generally have some element of truth in the middle. There have a lot of other comments about re: his attitude. Not saying he wouldn't be any good for us. At a different club where the pressures are not as stark as they are at Brisbane he could well flourish, or it could be a standard Rocky character trait. We've got young players to nurture so I'm not sure if he would be the best choice... then again, there's the old mantra of backing your club's culture to fix it.

BJ and Rocky in the same team, + pretzels. Could be interesting. Definitely a good cheap alternative.

That article is almost a year old. Im sure I've read recently that things have changed and he's happy there and wants to stay.

None of those players you mentioned would have near enough value to get De Goey by themselves. De Goey was a top 5 pick who has shown real promise apart from his indiscretion at the start of the year.

Hartley and Ambrose are first team players in defence, so ideally we dont want to give either of them up. Dea was overlooked by all clubs after being delisted by Richmond and only signed initially as a replacement. Brown is really the only one with value but probably not enough for de goey himself.

Brown + 2nd or 3rd rounder then maybe Collingwood pay attention. not guaranteed to let him go though.

im happy with that, i never said it would be a straight swap, was just throwing up an option that i'd pursue.

Degoey might not even be on the table, it might be a hopper or Matt Kennedy or zak jones etc

Wouldn't have a problem with pursuing the GWS guys who are in and out of the team from Vic, would be relatively cheap and probably quite talented, been working for Carlton, though I'm sure most other clubs are onto it by now.

Me rikey.
I mean, it's getting to the point where you'd get him for next to nothing and the contract you're giving him would be stuff all.

The issue is he's turrible compared to basically every other defender we've got
I can actually see him doing okay as a sort of 4th tall forward. He's got decent hands and that boot is fantastic and he doesn't have to do that defending thing

Trent McKenzie off half back = David Myers off half back.

Even that's redundant.

For that sort of 'small that can play a bit taller than his height defender' role I prefer Gleeson, Dea or Francis and if we're going to plonk him forward I prefer Langford, Laverde or, shock horror, Francis.

Oh I agree. Just think that he can actually play that position.
