If we recruit Saad im all for it.

Bloke is exciting, defensively needs plenty of work but with simpson gone this year or next, he could be a good replacement on a back flank along with Williamson. Allowing doc to push up to a wing and provide more run through the middle.

Yep this...I reckon his defensive side of the game will improve under Bolton with our culture and game plan.

GC has weak values and you see all their players very inconsistent defensively...but years and years in that kind of culture can do that to you.

Doubt sos and Bolton would want him if they didn't think they could help him improve this area.

I'm expecting Williamson to move into the midfield, Byrne and saad off half back works for me

Until the end of next season.

Saad is a solid player but he's no match winner.

He's not a midfielder. He's a small defender whose pressure numbers match the eye test. We have better on the list already. He doesn't offer anything that we can't already get from Docherty, Byrne, Sheehan, Williamson, Pickett. I'd rather develop those players than overpay for a contracted Saad.

Makes me wonder about who is going out... Byrne?

If SOS wants Saad, so do I.

We don't tend to overpay, and we don't tend to trade for contracted players, so the price SOS has in mind will be interesting.

It's also worth considering that he is lubing him up for next year...

Agree that we have better on the list but it makes sense if the price is right. Sheehan is short of the mark (tweener quality wise). Docherty and Williamson might be targeted for more midfield time. Pickett I don't see as a great defender as he has a tendency to want to do clever things..clever things that sometimes go wrong.

Byrne yes..but we have struggled against the small fast sides so Saad could help with these specific teams (Tigers). At the right price he offers an aspect we need. If Docherty was full time in the backline with Byrne, I'd say we dont need him...but have a feelng they want Doch to push up the ground a long way hence interest in Saad.

For me, it is about price. But I like him as we have been too tall in some of our losses. Fast, not scared, tick, tick.

I was at the gold coast game against us the other wk and Saad keeped them in the game in the first half he was there best player that night i would love him in our side real line breaker and good user

We're crying out for speed, class and X-factor as we naturally transition from being a slow unskilled side to a quicker ball-moving team.

SOS knows this, if Casboult decides to go, pick 20-25 should get Saad pretty easily.

Casboult is critically important at the moment since we lack a 2nd ruck option and play a slow contested marking style. He won't be as important in 2 years when we move the ball much more swiftly.

Who said he has to be a match winner?

And he definitely offers more than Sheehan and I still think the club sees Pickett on the wing or forward.

Byrne and Williamson both good but young, Simpson nearing the end and doc can play more midfield minutes.
I wouldn't trade a second round pick for Saad. I would target a Harrison Wigg type for a fourth round pick

So we get rid of our best contested mark for a small running defender?

Harrison Wigg? Why should we even bother giving a fourth round pick if we have shown the ability to pick up draftees like Polson etc. Would rather draft our then take low ceiling fringe players.
