Going to be a cracking game...been looking forward to it for weeks...

I hope the weather isn't too awful, that would spoil it a bit.

Got no idea who's going to win it. Only thing in our favour is that maybe in the backs of your players' minds they know you're already safe in the top 2. We NEED to win this badly.

I hope we win!!! I was there last year for the game and it was a cracker, had a few laughs with some crows fans at the casino.

GO SWANS! :)

A lot has been made of Sydney's form since round 6...

Notables being:
Rd 13 Defeated Richmond at the MCG
Rd 17 Defeated GWS at Spotless
Rd 20 Defeated Geelong at Kardinia
The pattern of top 4 teams losing to the Swans at home is very interesting. Never mind the 4, 3 and now 2 games in between each... Lordy!

What are the differentials on those stats? They are often a better measure of how well a team is at a particular stat.

For example, Adelaide is first for contested possessions, but is only about 4th for contested possession differential. This is because we have a very contested game style, resulting in our games having more contested possessions compared to other games.

No, we don't have a contested style game. Other teams HAVE to play a contested style game against us to win - it is part of the 'blueprint'. They have to slow us down and put pressure on us to win, hence we play a lot contested style games.

If I remember correctly Heeney was really good that game. The midfield battle we just shaded you lot and there was a a lot of slingshot style goals by both teams.
But yeah like you say this is one game I'm really looking forward to as well. Hope we get over the line and do some things to nullify your influential playmakers.

Yeah guys for you to look out for are Heeney, Papley, Buddy (derr!) and after two weeks off I think Kennedy is gunna go nuts. Other guy to be wary of is Hayward. For a first year player he's been awesome. Excellent mark and knows how to find the ball.

You guys have danger players everywhere. Scary forward line (Jenkins worries me, depending on who gets him) Betts, Tex, McGovern...and then your mids...

Very strong sides. If you have a spare ticket let me know ill fly over over for the game! :)

Sydney need to win this one. Crows don't need to win anything until the finals start.

I want to see a great finals-like game, but we have nothing at stake. I'm not sure we're going to get the usual breakneck intensity from the Crows, and with good reason.

I agree.

With that in mind, I would rather have Tex and Sloane closer to 100% injury free than play them if there is any doubt.

Back in the players mind is that they have secured top 2 and double chance and home finals before the first bounce. Im expecting the Crows to be in cruise control on Friday night, Sydney should beat us.

I have the same confidence of winning this as I did with the Geelong game.

I'll reckon we'll get it done by about the same margin, ie 21 points.

2 consecutive 6 day breaks. 3 of our best 6 players carrying niggles, with 1-2 of them a chance to miss entirely. Top 2 already secured...

Look, it should still be a pretty good game but I don't see us winning. 2 consecutive 6 day breaks at this time of the year is more brutal than many realise.

Swans by 15 pts.

I can't wait for this game, I think our guys will really set themselves for a big game

Such an important game for Sydney, lose and their top 4 hopes pretty much gone which will present a difficult September challenge

Finally the fixturing needs to be fixed, the fact that we are playing two teams for the first time in the last 2 rounds of the regular season is an absolute Joke

Btw, is top 4 that important these days since the week off was introduced? Was only the first year, but both teams in the 2016 GF played all 4 weeks.

Expecting swans to have more to play for nonetheless. Should win by a goal or 2.

Too small a sample size to know yet.

Will know more in 5 years

Yes. Playing 2 home finals and having the double chance is the best opportunity to win a premiership. Last year there was only 2 games separating 1st and 7th meaning there were no real dominant teams which created a fairly even finals series. Lets say you had to play Adelaide at AO instead of at the SCG, you may not have won that second week. Top 2 and top 4 are a must.

This year there are 4.5 games difference between 1st and 7th Sydney is the only team with enough form to suggest they will rival the Crows. The same couldn't be said about the top teams last year.

Remember if we were to get a week off in the finals the team we play the following week would also be exposed to possible injuries or suspensions in that week we have off. How often are injuries or suspensions huge stories in September? Would be nice to not be exposed to that for a week.

I think it allows the top teams to mentally prepare for the qualifying final, they can confidently throw everything into the final with the knowledge they have a week off after if they win and a home final.

I disagree. We don't play an uncontested, chip the ball around, keepies off style of game.

In general we play a quick, play-on, kick long to a contest (to our advantage, but still often a contest for the purposes of determining contested possessions vs uncontested possessions). Obviously that changes up during the game but, in general, I think that is our style.

Heeney smashed us that game. I think Cheney was on him but was well and truly beaten.
