According to the herald sun Rowe and Lamb have been offered new contracts, which was to be expected.

I know Rowe was good the last 18 months prior to doing his knee, but what's the point of extending him?

We are stacked for key defenders he's on the wrong side of 30 and won't even be right to go for next season.

I'd heard that rumour too but have also heard Silvagni say before that there was nothing to the rumour. According to him, they have never had an issue.

They aren't what you would call mates but apparently the only ex team mate Silvagni considers a mate is Braddles.
It was to do with Elliott............and Sticks wrote a forward in Elliotts` book, and SOS was dirty on Sticks staying friendly with the big power broker, who stayed 5 years too long..........a lot like Eddie is doing now at the maggies...........

It will be dirt cheap insurance while doing the right thing.

Hard to let him go after the knee but able replacements in ASOS (experienced) & Jonesy plus the youngsters (sure we'll have to draft another KPD this draft too). LTI maybe for as long Byrne this year?
Our best defence set up on the w/end.

Sounded like it was always on the cards immediately afterwards but a rookie place probably should be the go, though not a high priority like you mentioned.

I thought I saw a picture of him back running at training.

If he was he's still got a fair bit of time to rehab and work on his fitness.

We won't be going to the draft in any meaningful way for a while ...
It is quite possible that SOS "spends" a lot of our picks during trade week on players already in the system..........like from GWS and other AFL clubs. I guess he could hold some back for players from the wafl and other state leagues that we seem to be looking at. He may not even draft an 18 year old from this years draft unless it is a young ruckman for the future perhaps........?

Anything is possible i guess.
Times sure have changed , can't even get the slightest clue out of the club as to what might be brewing as opposed to good old Shane Rogers taking out full page adds telling the whole world who was coming and going in advance .

Not overly fussed by Balic or Boekhorst. Wouldn't give up a pick in the 1st 4 rounds for Balic, but if the Dockers agreed to a straight swap, IMO SOS would do the deal in a heartbeat
SOS likes Balic though. I remember the list of players that he had his eye on from other clubs early in the season read Hopper, Kennedy, Smith and Balic.

Aye...remember the good old days...........with Shane and the gang...........luxury, we used to eat bloody gravel before Shane came along...........we used to think that Wayne Hughes was bloody magnificent, best in the business.........luxury the 8 of us had to live in a bloody shoe box before Wayne turned up!!! p.s. sorry about that, couldn`t resist it...........luxury bloody Shane O`sullivan was king.......................blah blah blah:rolleyes:

And his quote re: John Elliott...?

My original posting on this topic which you referred to was about Sticks. I already said the person he was not happy with was Elliott.

The rumoured rift from the Elliott days was meant to be between Sticks and SOS.

Jones --> Defence
Rowe --> Forward.

You know it makes sense, I'm ShanDog.
Probably the wrong thread but,

Hey Shandog,
