Notice how the sjw's kept quiet about that little event over the last few days that leads to the inhuman slaughter of millions of innocent animals?Mainly. Seems to have been given a fair bit of coverage by many media outlets though.
Another SJW finding offence in a simple, yet commercial, tradition.
Given the recent focus on the importance of Fathers this was the wrong fight to take up.
Same with Easter, Christmas, Australia Day, Boxing Day, Anzac Day, Remembrance Day, New Years. Let's just get rid of them all why we are at it, we musn't offend a soleIt's just Hallmark holiday anyway. For years until grandkids came into the equation we stopped bothering with it. Even now it's mostly about them anyway.
They still have a mother. But don't some kids have 2 fathers?
Cue OUTRAGE.
And no one is saying that... faux outrage.Father's day should be kept as a day to pay reverence to fathers worldwide. Just because you don't have a father or a father worth respecting does not mean we should do away with a day dedicated to all the good fathers out there.

Lol, you don't get to take the moral high ground on Eid unless you're a vegan yourself.
Furthermore, I don't like to come the defence of Islam ever, but this Eid is a time of giving. From what I understand, Muslims give much of the meat they procure to the less fortunate.

Yet none of this type of issue arose around Mother's Day. Must be patriarchy and all that.Father's day should be kept as a day to pay reverence to fathers worldwide. They still have a mother.
Never heard of Eid before, but just had a quick read about it. Seems they eat/give to others to eat all the meat anyway - is that right?
If they just slaughtered them and left the carcasses I could see an issue with it, but if they're eating the meat then I can't see the problem (from the perspective of an avid carnivore that is - I can obviously see how vegans etc would take issue).
Time for another Crownie with the tin lids....
Just like the non existent war on Australia DayThis non-existent war on fathers day is nice warm up for the non-existent war on christmas. A couple more years and some these mainstream media tabloid boobs will start churning out books about which these lemmings will lap up.
Don't confuse him. What if the mother has transitioned into a male?
Don't children with gay parents have 2 mothers or 2 fathers? Why cant they also celebrate both mothers and fathers day?The name Father's Day seems a bit antiquated now that Fathers are not a perfunctory part of a family unit, and post-SSM (I assume it will pass and rightly so), what is the message that it sends, not only to children without present fathers, but also to gay couples?
I always dreaded Father's Day because I didn't want to include my father. He was an alcoholic and verbally abusive to all of us. So I sympathise with children in particular who want no part of this holiday for other reasons, ie. not having a present biological father at all.
What is your opinion on picking a more inclusive name? How would you go about it?

Should we do away with birthdays? Losing a family member/friend is hard especially when they are not around on their birthdateI would be happy to do away with the commercialism surrounding Fathers Day and the like. Celebrating fathers, or father figures, and their role in society is a valuable and worthwhile sentiment. I don't think it needs to be expressed through buying power tools or Lynx deoderant gift sets though.
More to the point of the thread, it did always make me uncomfortable come Mothers or Fathers Day as I had close friends growing up who had lost one or both of their parents and I couldn't imagine how heartbreaking the day would be for them. So all bullshit advertising and over the top social media tributes, I would be happy to get rid of. But the core idea of the day I think needs to remain.
