I mean the one thing, if we had a striker we would have been home and hosed. Juric is sadly the best we have currently.

Still doesn't excuse poor tactics and other selections

Problem with Ange is that he is more concerned with his 'football philosophy', 'development of the game' and trying to be some sort of modern day tactical genius/guru rather than being a pragmatic, results based international coach. He completely screwed it up in Japan last week. Just friggin defend for a draw like 99% of international coaches would have done dammit. His squad is very very average and is simply not good enough for him to play 'his' innovative tactical games with. Those who have followed his career will no doubt remember that most of his Grand Final wins (6 in total) as a player at South Melbourne (NSL days) and during his coaching stint there and at Brisbane had massive amounts of 'luck' involved i.e. crazy last minute winners, shoot out wins etc. The football gods certainly looked after him at the time.....big time. Maybe it has given him and the soccer community here a false sense of his achievement and ability. Last night luck didn't go his way like it has in previous important occasions and he was possibly exposed. He still deserves to see it through I reckon. Maybe a bit more realism rather than idealism from him in the upcoming play-offs.

I knew him from his south m days, he's definitely become an arrogant bloke since taking the socceroos job.
He isn't as good as he thinks, has a long way to go to become a quality manager.

Juric has been pretty solid actually. Just the crap around midfield and not having much support on the wings forces him to do so much more work then usual.

It's expected that ANZ Stadium will be announced to host our home leg against Syria as early as tomorrow. If we get past them, then I expect Emptyhad will host the home leg against Panama/Honduras as the MCG would be in cricket mode.

Both home games would be at anz I would expect unless the state governments of either Queensland or Victoria chip in.

looking too far ahead, but USA currently in fourth on 9pts and play home against Panama on final match day in concacaf. Panama currently 3rd on 10pts so that match will determine 3rd. a clear result in that match could see the loser miss out completely as honduras have a match away to costa rica and a win to them sees them leap frog either Panama or USA or both. honduras need a result as they're too far behind on goal diff, costa rica have already qualified so a bit of saudia arabia vs japan scenario there.

if AUS can get past Syria....and that's no way a given, play-off ties against USA would be huge.

other way around i reckon......or homebush bay oval could get both, especially if USA are the intercontinental play off opponent.

Major announcement at 10:30am this morning from ANZ Homebush with Gallop and Emerton. Either Emerton is our new coach (seems like something the FFA would do) or they're just announcing that the game will be played there against Syria.

Getting a crowd from western suburbs ? Can I say that :)

Which is a ****ing outrage if you ask me.

It's probably the strongest indicator that football in Australia is nowhere near as strong as the FFA likes to tell us when they still have to sell our big games, rather than choosing the best stadium for the team that provides the best atmosphere for fans and the best tv viewing for the blow-ins that you hope will become rusted on.

Homebush stadium is easily the worst "major" stadium in Australia. (That said... Melbourne has historically been pretty unkind to the Socceroos.)
